'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

Thanks fellas! I can't wait to go out wheelin! The tires on there now look like crap, can't wait to put on my 42s. I figure I need to put another 5-7K in parts and wheels and tires to make it to BB12. It will happen. But first I need to figure out my swaying problem.

Then I see this thread about Spartan vs. Lockrite. I am getting on of those soon. Just to check it out.

I need sliders, rear bumper, front locker, 42" Goodyear with kevlars, raceline beadlocks, 35 spine outer and a ton of other crap. It's on!

Thanks again for the compliments, I need to get some battle scars on it soon.

You NEED???

I'll take the tires and rims

Those would look good on your rig, just read your thread...:waytogo:

Munepit, everything is looking real good; tasteful mods! Your right the 42's look pretty BOSS on that thing too!

Thanks, I love my 42s, The 38s are little on this rig. I am going to lower it a few inches and do some trimming real soon!

Do the twizted engineering track bar setup! That ought to fix your swaying issue! Unless im thinking of the wrong kind of swaying. In which case maybe one of those anti rock/crawler style sway bars would work for you.

I have everything for the hydro assist except the hoses. That's all I need. But I have bigger fish to fry first. My swaying problem. It like a boat, side to side, like when you rock the boat. I was getting sea sick. It's bad. I have 4 brand new Bilsteins on there. I need to figure this out first.

The Twisted web site has been down for awhile not sure he is even in business anymore.

The swaying is due to your shocks, how stiff are they? Might need some stiffer ones, or different mounting. Are the back ones straight up and down or laid down?

Na, I need something simple, easy and fast!! I need to figure out what springs I need. I have a 4" shackle flip to go into the rear and I want to lower it 2". I have 8" front springs, So I need some 6" fronts and dont yet know what to do in the rear. Need to do some research on this. So, rear will be a 4" flip and some 2" rear springs I think.

What are your rear springs?

I cant imagine your front doing any moving with 8 inch springs. Mine sways a bit with 56/63 but its not unnerving or anything. it really rides like a caddy smooth, not a truck that jars you on every bump.

Stock rears w/ 6" block and 2" add-a-leaf. I know, I know. Im dumb for having them. Had them for like 18yrs like that!

If you have a set of tires to swap on there I would try it. That swaying sounds like what I went through on my old truck. Broken cord threw me around so bad I Had to let off to keep it under control.

I used Rancho 9000x on mine and crancked it to the max for highway, and then down to 1 or 2 off road, worked much better, I had the same issue you have.

My other set of tires are 42" Bias cut TSLs. That wont help. Im 99% sure its not the tires.

The sway bar went to the dump. Dammt.

I have been thinkin. When I put on my B-52 winch bumper, the front hangers were to narrow for the springs. We had to cut a lot of both sides of both front spring bushings to fit in the hangers. About 1/4" off each bushing in the front. Could that be it. Probably not. I also noticed the rear bushings in the rear of the springs are cracked and wasted.

It just happened though. As son as I got the front winch bumper on, My tranny stared leaking. So I only have drivin it a couple miles since the install. Maybe its the front bushings, I will get some pics up soon.

Thanks guys!!:waytogo::bow:

Alright, so I read back in the thread a little, and if you havent made any radical changes maybe its the rear shock mod you did in combination with the 18 year old springs (is that a full pack or did you remove a leef or two). I doubt the front end had any thing to do with it but hard tellin... Maybe you could go get some El Cheapo HEAVY duty shocks and mount um up to verify. It might just not have enough damping now?

Did you move the upper shock mounts up or the lower ones down?

Get rid of the blocks, get a newer, hopefully stiffer spring and if both your shocks are attached you should be OK.
