'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

Mine rides like an old caddy the swaying that it has doesn't bother me. I have both sets of overloads in mine front and rear. My rear springs were basically new so I would imagine it rides like a new truck does. I never have felt I needed a sway bar and I have had the truck to 80mph on the freeway driving for a few hours.

Sounds a lot better than mine right now. Its hard to drive it to the store right now about 1 mile without getting sea sick. Its bad! Like a boat in port with waves comming in. I do wonder if it has to do with my front shackles being straight down. I mean at a 90* angle with the ground.

Deal is done. 52" springs and 7" diy4x shackles for $75.00. Picking them up on Saturday. Front springs going in on Sunday. I will somehow find rear springs and install shackle flip following weekend.

Anybody want some brand new 6" EZ Rides?

Well, I picked up my springs and shackles today. Just got home. I was just getting ready to break out the jack stands and realized I don't have the right bushings:angry1: So I guess its drinking time. These 56s have the same bushings front and rear. My current setup both are different. I will place an order with ORD for the greasable bushings.

Here are the springs. $50.00. Also the diy4x 7.5" shackles. Are the 56s supposed to be flat in the center? My 6" EZ Rides are also pictured.

your 56 springs sound like mine, tell ORD it's the metric size bushings front and rear. I had the same problem. The springs look like mine, but I have overloads.

Safe to say they arent really "supposed" to be and they didnt start life that way. Its a sign or a worn/well broke in spring. I dont know about the 56's, but lots of people seem to keep the overload spring in on the 52's to help keep that flat center from happening.

So its missing the overlaid spring? Great, I seem to get screwed a lot. Dammit.

Thanks for the info on the bushings.

So, am I wasting my time with these? I hope not. Drove for 3hrs for these. Just so I didn't have to take them apart at a junk yard.

Hope you enjoyed the ride, they are not soposto be flat should look like every other spring arched the whole way.

Well, thats kindof an open ended question. Without the overload, they will be more flexy. Trouble is, some folks say they are too flexy! When you flex them negative alot they tend to flatten out like that. They will ride crazy smooth, but perhaps too smooth. If i were you, i think i would try running them like that and if you dont like it, stick an overload spring in them. I could also snap a pic of the stock rear springs in my 90 suburban that came with 56's. They are flattened in that area. Good or bad, i dunno.

Ok, You would be surprised how tough it is to get a shot of them darn springs! But heres what i got,

Thanks for taking those pics. I really appreciate it!

Im going to run them as is, for now. I will use my add a leaf from the rear or buy a new one. Sure wish I could do the swap today, if it went for the darn missing bushing.

So I went into the garage and stood on the spring pack. I weigh 190 and I could bounce a little, not jump, and it compresses about 2 inches. Damm, that is flexy. I will put in a add a leaf when the pack goes in.

Put a straight edge across the eyes. Arch is 7 3/8". 6 leaf plus overload, came from a Sub.
