'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

Bring me those springs!!!!! The ones I bought don't have the plastic pads between each spring and have only one metal wrap on them. WTF is going on here. Could I use a leaf from my old pack to put in there. Im sure I could. Well, got the old springs out. Now I need parts. Hope nobody steals my axle. Seems just a few bolts and its out.

BTW, there are 227k miles with plenty of abuse on those springs.

You are forgetting your's are under a load, his are off the truck.
I think his springs are done, but maybe with an add aleaf he will be OK.

I will give you 40 plus gas. Remember that Dana 60 deal I gave you! I will see you at my house tomorrow after work!

Im going to order the bushings tomorrow from ORD. Maybe some other stuff also. Im blocking the garage so my wife wants it done as much as I do. Im going to put in the bottom or second to the bottom leaf from the old pack and see what happens. Getting new u bolts made locally and the center pin. We will see what happens.

If kgblazerk5 and iceman are correct, and they probably are. This was a waste of time.,

Damm, I have a question. The front spring bolt is smaller than the rear. But these 52s the spring eye is the same size. I was just going to order the bushings and sleves. But I dont think the bolts will work. The front bolt is smaller than the rear. Do I need new bolts for the front springs, Or just the one in front? Does that make sense? Thanks!

Crap, Now Im confused. I need to measure them. I dont really know for sure. Great!

Thanks!!

And yes i think the 52's are 9/16" bolts all around whereas the stock fronts are 9/16" in the front and 1/2" at the shackle. Should be able to use those shackles the dude gave you with the springs as they should be the right size.

OK, But the front bolt is smaller than the rear bolt. Is the sleave thicker then on the front bushing?

If its any consolation, in the front i would rather have the 52's that i think you have. If i were you, i would throw an overload spring in the pack and put them in the truck. They should work nice.

Go somewhere like autozone.com and look up rear leaf spring bushings for like a 78 blazer. Both the bushings on the rear springs will be the same. Therefore, same bolts.

From Autozone. I thought K85 said it was a metric size.

The stock front springs have different size bolts.
The 52" rear springs have same size bolts.
If you put the rear 52" springs on the front you will use the same size bolts, and you will need a shackle made for that size bolt.
And as was said, the 52" for the front are a bit easier and better for you in the front.
If you end up wanting better 52" springs, I have a couple of pairs here in good shape.
One is on my trailer and one is sitting in my yard.

Sweet, I will probably get them from you if you have them in a month. I will be spending some time in Chico in Jan. I could swing by and pick them up! And give you money of course! And thanks for the info:waytogo:

Ordered the bushings from Vatozone. Getting new U Bolts and Leaf spring center pins tomorrow. I guess I will have it done by Saturday!

Then start on the rear!
