got my 36" military-OZ tires new axles are in. waiting for my crossover steering stuff coming from ebay and ORD.
12" lift installed. rattle canned most of it so far.

Well. I have an oil leak somewhere. On top and behind the motor. PITA to locate the leak. I pulled out the dizzy to get a better view. Tom is comming over tomorrow to help me. I was supposed to do a snow run in the morning, but thats a no go now.

Oil pressure sending unit/fitting, intake manifold or distributor gasket most likely in that area. If its the intake you wind up doing all 3 anyway.

yea exactly what he said! damn oil press sending units.
Well, what i do know is, its not comming from the dizzy. So, im tearing it all down and pulling the intake. I am going to redo all of it. Almost have it all off now. Had to go get some Sierra Navada Pale Ale and have some lunch. What a PITA. Doesnt help that it is so high, so i took off the wheels and set it on the ground. Well, on some wood blocks. Helps a little but still. Damm. This is a new motor with only 1000 miles on it. They are all hard miles though.

hey I just picked up a super clean complete electric tail gate for the jimmy and a power steering box for the crossover steering and a bunch other stuff at U -PICK-U-SAVE TODAY. theres a crap load of 73-87 chevys in there.
let me know if you need some tall guy to help out tearing into the burb.

Giver of not a single damn...
When I did my intake manifold gaskets and tore into my engine, I decided it was easier to take off the core support so I could stand in front of the motor and do all the work comfortably without laying on top of the motor. Just a thought.
Ya, but i have that bada$$ A Bomb in there. That would be better though.
Well. Found the leak. Some gasket that sealed the intake was missing. WTF. It was fine for a yr. or more. Right in the middle on the back. Very happy i found it though. At least i nzow now the problem. Should be back on the road tomorrow!

Sometimes having help is no help at all.....
I helped Jeff assemble the long block and helped put it back in the Sub.
I messed up and didn't get the RTV sealed up well enough in the back of the engine when we put the intake on the long block.
Will do a better job tomorrow when Jeff gets a new gasket set.
Ironically the gap in the RTV was exactly next to the oil pressure sender hole so it was hard to decide where the leak was coming from. I was able to stick a small allen wrench into the hole in the gasket material after I took out the sender and fitting.

Thanks for comming over and helping Tom. Big help. That was a great idea to stick a tiny allen wrench in there to see if it would go through. It sure did. I have a few pics of a 6'5" man in my engine compartment too.
It couldnt be your fault. It ran and didnt leak for a long time. Its just a fluke deal. I do really appreciate all your help. Thanks!

On those ends use The permitex "right stuff" and let sit for 24 hrs and you will be fine.
