'87 Suburban Build "munepit" I'm Back! Missed all you guys!

Back from the dead.

I'm finally get some time to wrench on the Burb. This thing is trashed!!!! Not many pics, But I have been cleaning up all the wires under the hood. Almost finished the the Windstar fan setup. Just need toggles.

I have a run on Aug. 1st. To a place called Swamp Lake. A Suburban has never made it there. They say I can't make it. I am going to try. I might be leaving some body panels there. Oh well, We will see.

A few pics.

To do list. It is big. And this is not a complete list. I didn't take a pic of the other list.

I found out why my winch never worked. XRC12. I've never even used it. I had to buy a new solenoid. Took it apart and sealed it real good.

I should go check my xrc10 now...:doah:

Still wiring up the Windstar fans. Almost done. Found out I was using an old wiring diagram. So now to redo some stuff:doah:

Borrowed this set of wire crimpers from my neighbor. They are badass!

Also, My son took his first ride in Ellie's Mustang. I think he is hooked!

Here is the BMW dual sending unit. Now I have GM, Ford, Jeep, Chrysler, and BMW parts. To me, That is being green!

do you have a PN or know what model/year the sending unit came from? I didn't see it in the windstar thread....

I was almost done when I found out i was using the wrong diagram.:doah:

I was using the first one, Now I need to use the second without the A/C part.
Minor setback.

So if I read it correctly, its a high and low speed switch. Not that that matters, but are you using it to turn on both fans? If so I would be really interested in this, as I dont want 2 sending units and thats a nifty little device to do what I want.

Yes. One switch, both fans. 190 and 210 degrees. On seperate relays. It's a sweet deal. 4 bucks or so at the junk yard. I'm on my IPad right now, but on here, search Windstar. The thread with the most posts is the one you want. Lunatic started it. Awesome thread.

Should be done with it in a day or so.

I got some switches in. I want to get some kind of plug so If I need to pull the bezel, I don't have to unhook 12 wires.

Crappy install, But it matches the look of the body.

Used some hot glue on the back to keep things in place. Probably dumb, But I had a good buzz going and said why not.

My son likes spaghetti.

That's neet about the fan temp switch. I knew of the MOPAR one but not the one you used.

I just broke down and bought a painless one, well it was a moment of weakness when I was in a speed shop :haha:

I believe so. The schematic I'm using from Lunatics thread states one switch cuts them both off for deep water crossing.

I know you wired your up to a single switch, can you turn yours off. You are using the same dual circuit sender too right?

I have a 3 way DPDT switch. It goes:

-ON- both fans on powered directly from the battery

-OFF- both fans off and dummy light On

-ON and rocket switch closed in default position- ignition power to primary fan only.

It works great for me. I'm actually going to install one on my buddies Heep soon.

Lunatic helped me with my wiring diagram too. Gotta give props to him for that.:waytogo::bow:
