'87 Suburban "down the rabbit hole"

I like the Plastidip idea.

Martin, I'm down for any suggestions. Don't hate the rims but not in love with them.

I called the anodizing company today, apparently they only work on new machined parts. They gave me a number to a place in Redford (only open 8-noon go figure).

More striping/grinding, more hidden rust.

Started diging deep. Cut the rear open. Oh! Look! More work:grind:

Started fabing the rear corner

Looks Like I didn't get a final pic of the large piece

Stoped obsessing over the details, that are way down the line. Didn't the CUCV door handles come painted?

Cut out the spair tire well lip. This should be the last piece to fab, before I can start fitting things back together again.

Cut and tacked. Hopefully I can weld, grind and prime it tomorrow.

The truck has 2 piece rockers (dip between front and back door)
New rockers are 1 piece.
What was factory?

New spool (10lb .0030), and a set of SAE stubby gear wrenches $66.30 :woot:. Gotta love Tractor Supply Plus

I'm gunna start a book: "101 ways to hide rot on a square body" :deal:
Apparently previous owner used strips of tin and pop-rivets slathered in tar to cover the gaps in the wheel wells. :poo:
