Moving on to the crackson the passenger side seats mounts in floor pan, also rust on both corners at the tailgate and full lenght of floor where trim screws go at the tailgate. What do you guys recommend, just replacing what is needed by cutting out sections from new panel or full replacement.
Thanks :dunno:

I noticed on the '87 I bought that the floor had been welded (on the drivers side) where the seat bolts down. Wonder if that was a common problem?

Any suspicion as to why yours cracked? Only reason I can see an issue is if the seat had to bear the weight of a very heavy person for long periods of time. I don't think the floors or mounting changed substantially throughout the run, although the tilt/slide seats mount differently than the earlier "flip forward" seats.

From what I have found through forum searches it that with the blazer having a removable hard top, the body must flex somewhere. So usually it goes through the roof and floor. With a minor amount of rust weakning the floor it cracks....
So add that with a seat bolted to floor shxxs gonna move.

Trying to decide how to better brace the structure to get ready for better seats. Looking to get newer Silverado heated leather and suburban 2nd row, since they have built in seat belts, better for car seats in rear.

I've replace the entire rear but the front just needed patches. So I'm using small pieces of metal (largest was about 20x20) to patch holes to the floor with panel adhesive.

Just got a tube for what should be the last couple patches I need to make this afternoon.

i just picked up a bunch of cab panels from classicparts

they cut me a swell deal on shipping, basically each panel has an oversize charge but since i was essential ordering a left and right side of everything, they only charged me for half of the oversize charges. cut the total down by 100 bucks!

we'll see on the quality. can't wait to see your pics and how you go about your fix.

Here's what we have so far. I wanted to get the biggest patches in and see what I need. I now need three smaller pieces inside the cab and three underneath. The one corner was toast, and had I known that before, I'd have used a cab corner from someplace.

Also: I'm using 1/8 galvanized. In case anyone was wondering.

The two pics show the panels screwed and glued: 3M 8115 adhesive and self-tapping sheet metal screws into good places. In the location under the pedals, I'll add one more piece to take care of a small hole you likely can't see in the pic. In the other, well, you can easily see where I need two more pieces.

How I did my floors

My floors had a similar problem with the seats almost falling through the floor. I decided to replace the whole pan as mine had small issues in more than one area. It was quicker to just remove the whole pan than try and piece it together. I nbetween the spot welds, I used a high quality panel adhesive to help out a little. Pans feel better than ever.

I purchased my front floor pans from a guy on ebay (ammuscle) who carries pans that are thicker than the aftermarket ones. Someone from this forum talked about his stuff being nice, so I gave it a shot. I wish he carried the rear pans! I can tell you that his front pans are AWESOME! They fit great and are a step above the made in China stuff everyone else sells. I'll attach some pics of how my stuff came out.

Also, I didn't like the idea of my seats bolting to the floor, so I did what most people here do and attached them to some rollbar tubing that connects directly to the cage. No more seats bolting to a thin-ass floor pan :-)

If you care to see what the front pans look like here's a link. I'm not affiliated in any way.

Are these pans made in the USA? How was the fit?

From the guys ebay listing:

"Top quality repro pan stamped in the US from heavy gage steel. Fits all standard truck models, Blazer, Jimmy, Apache, Carryall, Suburban, Panel Delivery. Very superior to the thin steel overseas versions on the market."

The set I got (dude on ebay) are definitely thicker than the rear ones I got that are made in China. I personally had no issues trimming my old floor and the new pan to get them to fit nicely. Nothing aftermarket is perfect, but if I had to do it again, I would have zero hesitation buying another set from ammuscle.
