all waxed up just in time for winter

thanks its taken 6 years of owning it to get to this point.

Anyone ever installed those CUCV tow shackle recovery point thingies on the rear? I bought some off ebay but can't figure out how they mount. No problem in drilling out the bumper for them to pass through it. Anyone got some tips or pics?

Looks sweet.
Nice job.
About to set my 5.3 in mine, any problems clearing the cross member?

I hope you bought those car shop inc, 1" setback mounts....they fit like OEM. much better than the other 2 or 3 brands buddies have used and they fit like crap. Didn't have to move my trans or have any crossmember issues either. Just leave your starter wire and crank sensor wire looped above the motor until you install it, don't want to pinch it against the kmember when installing the engine ;)

I don't know if you can see them on the motor.
I got the ditty dingo that will let the motor go back up to 2"

And new poly frame mounts.

can't see attachments because I haven't had the spare money for a membership and now I'm laid off for winter. :/ But those dirty dingo ones are a lot more money, but they work as well. So good choice, just too rich for my blood lol. Make sure to make a build thread and if you have any questions don't hesitate to ask.

I have NEVER liked H2's on a square body till I seen your side view pic there. Man those look good on your truck though. seeing that pic also makes me lean even farther twards painting my burb black. I've always wanted a black burb. but so far I've only had a white, brown and now a blue one. Awesome truck you have there man:thumb:

haha thanks I guess. I just bolted on some chrome center caps from the 2005-ish 16" rims that 3/4 ton suburbans got in the rear. If I can figure out how to cut them open for the front I'll have it matching up there too. If not I'll sell the other pair.

Ordered up a new th400 kickdown solenoid harness and the switch that mounts on the gas pedal. Almost had a heart attack that they wanted $65 shipped for both, but couldn't find it anywhere else cheaper. Now my truck can downshift on its own and raise the shift points a little higher than 3500 hopefully. If not I'll go into the trans and play with the governer springs and weights I suppose. Probably a good time to toss on a deep trans pan with temp gauge sender so I can see how the trans is doing while towing.

About drilling out the center caps, what i did was drilled about 100 little holes in a circle that i wanted cut out, then knocked out the center, and cleaned the left overs with a round file. Worked pretty good even if it did take about an hour.

So pretty much i dont have any close ups but here is some far away shots. They werent flawless but you had to be a foot away before you noticed they werent perfect.

The wheels are stock ford wheels off a pre super duty. Like a 95 or something. The tires are 36x12.5-16 Super Swamper TSL radials.

What throttle cable did you use? And what did you do for fuel lines?

I used a throttle cable for a 99 camaro. A 97 vortec truck throttle cable would also work and its shorter than the camaro one, since I had to put a sweeping curve into mine to get it to work. Fuel lines, I used the stock tbi lines up to the mating point on the passenger side near the trans. Bought some 16mm and 18mm saginaw o-ring fitting adapters that came up in a google search and ran -6 line up to the return style fuel rails. Much simpler than buying the vette regulator that lots of guys run on a returnless setup and those can fail due to bouncing too much off road. Hope this helps ;)

Crap, never noticed this... Not a close up, but hang on a sec.

Pretty sure i have better pics somewhere. Let me see if i can dig them up.

wow that looks a lot better than I thought it would. I'll definitely have to knock out the center of mine and do the same thing. :eek1:

Get ready for me to ask alot of questions in the upcoming months! Looks like im about to do a 5.3 on my burb! First off, do you have a link to the car shop inc motor mounts? I cant seem to find them. Second, what fuel pump did you use?

EDIT: is it these ones?
