88 1 ton suburban, 5.3L swap FINISHED! 11/15/11.....CUCV rear shackle help!

I got the dirty dingo motor mounts for mine, they give more adjustment then some of the others. Also replace the stock rubber frame mounts with ploy ones from energy suspension. you can see the pic of them in post #47.

over 500 trouble free miles on the truck now, everything works great, better mileage and the power difference is insane.

I think It's crazy that the power difference is so dramatically different just by upgrading to a stock 5.3. Just imagine the folks that are using stuff like LQ9s and what not! That power difference has got to be really crazy.

actually it's jumping from 170hp 350tbi to 295hp 5.3L that is the big jump. Going from that to 335hp or so in a 6.0L isn't much more HP. but the mileage isn't going to be as great with the added cubes.

How did you run your heater hose between the radiator, water pump and overflow bottle.

heater hoses go from the water pump only, it has both fittings on it. I am using a gen 3 engine radiator, so there is no place for a heater hose on it.

Not sure what cable xpndbl used but I used the gm cable for a 97 chevy 1500 with a 350 clipped right in.

I used a 99 camaro throttle cable and had to cut the bracket slightly to make it fit and drill out the firewall opening a little rounder from the rectangular shape it was.

Also thinking of doing a 63 rear spring swap since my truck rides like crap in the back, it has 8 leaves in the rear spring pack and is very bouncy. Anyone have a build up of that and it has pictures to explain what to do?

What are the chances you would send me your wiring configuration? I would love to get insight as I am planning the same swap.

What can be deleted?
Which wires did you lengthen/shorten?

I'll be using a 4L60E tranny to make things simpler.

Thanks!

Your probably going to have to do some research. There are several ways of wiring One of these engines in a truck. Read this thread start to finish, read my thread start to finish, go to lt1swap.com and read all they have to offer. Go to ls1tech.com in the conversions amd hybrids section and read all the stickys. Go to you tube and search for how to make a stand alone ls harness. Go to google and do the same. As well as searching here and on google for all terms related such as swap, ls1, 5.3, stand alone harness, ls conversion, etc. After all that, if you have some very specific questions, that's when we will really be able to help. All the information is out there. You just gotta spend some time finding it.
