'88 Blazer 2016 Changes. Not many....Yea.

Yeah, Shady, a member on here, is going stop next week and see if we can tweak it a little. Thanks for the imput everyone. Although I'm not sure if tweaking will be enough for Blazer Bash:whistle:

Edit: Maybe I should keep the Yukon and through solid axles on it and really beat it. That Tahoe looked awfully sweet in the Blazer Bash forum.

I'm sure you guys will get it sorted out:waytogo: I can't wait to be back on the mainland and be able to meet more of the guys on here.

Need mechanic help quick.

So, driving the Blazer everyday sense I sold my Yukon and yesterday I got on it pretty hard to here the exhaust:D. Started smelling something burning each time I did it, so I started babying it because I need this truck for DD for awhile. Last night on the way home from work when I turned there was a rattle/vibration in the front end especially when I would ease into the throttle coming out of the turn and it got worse the closer to home. Any ideas?

i'll be up today, Just got up and at'em a little bit ago. we'll see what we can find:waytogo:

I forgot all about the front end stuff:doah: We got the fangs bent a little to clear the tires a lot better. and Got the speedo correction in place.

Did the fangs rub at all in the normal places tony? and how did the speedo change work out?

Speedo's pretty close, I hope to get it checked out today see how close, and know rubbing tires anymore pulling out of my driveway or turning around in parking lots:whistle:. As far as the noise-I hoped it was a bearing in my water pump sense it was leaking bad yesterday morning and I replaced it but I'm still getting the noise after I driving it a little while.:dunno: I can feel a vibration through the steering wheel and hear it when I'm turning. Could it be my steering box?

Thanks alot Rick for the help on my truck, It is appreciated and we'll have to meet up agian sometime. My nephew might get my suburban for me this weekend so hopefully you can see that too. Don't be afraid to stop if you're in the area agian. Tony

how long have you had the new wheels on? maybe you have some loose lugs. you have to retighten aluminum wheels after the first 100 miles or so.. Me and my dad didnt know that till his left front wheel pulverized the front of an oncoming car, luckily no one was hurt. deffinitly a lesson learned.
Good to hear on the speedometer and rubbing issue. I came home and ordered the speed correction like yours last night:waytogo: You'll have to go flex the truck out a little to see if it rubs then:D

We'll after babying my truck along for a couple of weeks (Sold the Yukon) I got my suburban and the Blazer is at the tranny shop. I'm going to rebuild it with a shift kit and synthetic fluid. Any suggestions- I want it to be a tough 700:whistle: and I want to feel it shift.

I had mine done with a full corvette upgrade. had better parts and a decent shift feel. Mine would stay in gear till you let off then shift. So you never felt it till you stayed in it. Then YOU FELT IT:thumb:

So, Corvette upgrade. Is that a common thing to do and how much does it affect cost?

Personally I'd talk to someone who KNOWS how to rebuilt a 700R4 specifically. Maybe your local shop can do it...maybe they can't. Find someone who knows how to beef a 700R4 and at least get their recipe and parts list. Then find a good shop that can build it like that if they don't already know.

Look at Zim's TH400 drama a few months ago to show what can happen when shops and "people who know" don't rebuild your trans as well as you hoped. He took it to COAN (known for beefy trans) and it was done once and done right.

I dont know if its too far for you but "Mikes transmission" right across the river from me in fulton Illinois is the best in the area as far as I know. He did mine and Ive had him do multiple others of mine and family members. Never a complaint one.

One tip I heard a while back was find who does your local police/sheriff/cops/whatever's cruisers auto trans rebuilds. Cops are hard on auto trans and if they've been doing it long enough they rebuilt some Caprice 700R4's.

I followed Zimmers' build and with the suggestion here I asked a few guys including a reliable mechanic that drag races and they gave me a name so the tranny might be tore apart Monday. Thanks guys.

So do I request the corvette servo? They know what I want and say they can make it happen. I just don't want to come off as having better ideas or not trusting there ideas since I know very little about trannys.

You might ask them to explain the upgrades to it.

Don't know much about them myself but I know I hear the words "Corvette servo" a lot.

BTO is doing mine.... sunshell upgrade is a must on the 700's, corvette servo, good pump and clutches, etc....

Ryoken, I'm glad you chimed in because I knew you wanted to prove some people wrong about the 700 but I haven't taken the time to go through the thread to see what you where doing. Thanks Any idea where they should be on cost?

And I'm going to get a hold of the shop tomorrow and ask a lot more questions to make sure we're all on the same page:waytogo: Thanks everyone.

my guess on a local shops cost for a 700 with some decent upgrades would be 1500 to 2 g's, including a new converter....

that obviously wouldn't include every possible upgrade, or install, but it should be a stout trans...
