We made it to his place a couple of hours ago. Elk City OK to Holloman AFB. 468 miles today.

Has a small amount of fluid, but not enough. He is going to look at where he parks it for a puddle. He was driving it back with no clutch. The car died and will not run now. It is soon to be on a truck headed to his place.

Yep. He had it towed to his house. The fuel pump died also. He has ordered the master and slave cylinders. And a fuel pump. It is getting power.
Fuel pump is swapped by pulling the filler neck and surround. Then the pump can be accessed. No dropping the tank.
Junior got notice of orders today. Headed to Keesler AFB, MS. Should be at the first of the year. He is excited to be leaving NM. So I may be driving a car back then.
They have a place in mind to settle after he retires?
He will end up near us. Probably working a government contractor job. Been auditing contracts for years. Being head hunted regularly.
He probably knows this but make contacts. A buddy of mine is doing his exact job from the AF up in Alaska as a contractor. Very good pay and his old boss called him and told him to apply. 10 years later he’s still up there.
He has been. He could get out now, with a sign on bonus and the base pay, he would make more money in one year than the next three in the AF. But he is so close to retirement, he has to stay in, so someone I know is getting my tax money
And his Corvette is not fixed yet. The new fuel pump was fubar out of the box. Takes a week to get parts shipped to Alamogordo.
Keesler is about 45 min away from me, when the time comes there’s several members in the area if he needs anything.
That also sounds like a good home base for Cruising The Coast ‘25.
Cool, you already know most of us from that area. If he needs housing checked out just holler, we are right up the road.
