88 K5 Build - Colonel Mustard

I don't like it when places do that, I want my parts back. Sometimes they have your best interest in mind, sometimes they don't.

Luckily the blazer is the exact opposite of a show truck, and the heads will be covered up for the most part. But still frustrating to say the least.

I had to buy new head bolts for it….again. I found out the 2004 was the year they switched head bolts. Early 04 used the old style.

The suburban is keeping me busy, I need to get back to this thing soon!

Finally got the engine mostly together. Trying to get things together to make some room in the garage. Fabbed up a lifting plate so I could get to the rear cover. Bouncing between this and the suburban. The suburban still needs the transmission pulled…it’s hanging in there by a tie down strap lol.

Got the dash back in today…mostly, I lost all the screws to the gauge bezel. I think it was only hanging on by half of them in the first place.

In hindsight, I would not do it again. Either buy a new dash or have Kert make one.
Having a cage to work around was the hardest part. Fiberglassing over the existing dash followed by body filler to smooth everything out equals a lot of additional material to squeeze back into place (when there wasn’t much wiggle room to begin with) even without the cage!

It looks a lot better than before, still far from perfect. I got tired of it being in the garage taking up space so it was finished quickly and slapped in.

Before picture. Part of it anyway, and a shot of @76zimmer Iron Maiden on Hells Revenge!
