First post, hopefully not in the wrong forum.
Have what I'm assuming is a 159" c&c v30, was a dump truck in it's former life. Spring pack on drivers side has several cracked springs and I plan on replacing both sides. Have a set of junkyard 9 leaf packs, and the bolts/ bushings/ shackles ubolts ready. Have a few ??'s.
Truck will probably need new bottom spring plates, I see there's an ORD kit that allows the use of the round end ubolts but requires a suspension lift or shackle flip for clearance. I like the idea of a 2.5" lift with the shackle flip but for right now would really just like to get the truck on the road with minimal screwing around, and cutting off the old shackle hanger sounds like a huge time consuming pita for the time being. Are there any other options besides new factory 1ton spring plates? I read something about swapping the rounded ones with the plate on top from a 3/4 ton, will this work or just cause more problems?
Second question, have been questioning whether to put the junkyard springs on or just bite the bullet on a new set of the 22-617's. I bought the truck for firewood and scrap, plan to put a flatbed on it instead of the dump that was on there. Would it be more reasonable to have the lighter springs since it no longer has a heavy dump on the back?
