SO, I figured I'd start a build thread since I find myself accumulating parts.
Picking up Chevy rally wheels tomorrow, PCS steering gearbox is on its way (free shipping at wheel customs right now), have a few misc parts to put on, like throttle cable and replace a few rusted bolts.

Hmm, do you have anything to trade?? It is against my moral fiber to sell cheap (I used to work at a used car dealership), but trade, one man's garbage is anothers gold.

hahaha I know, you can finish redoing my master bath (size of a small closet) for the rims!!!! :D because my wife will kill me if I don't:eek1:

Shut up marty!!!

(he wants to sell them to me )

I'm sure I could find something

Ive got 4 Rough Country Nitro 9000 shocks that are like a year and a half old. Taking them off to run my new Fox shocks.

Nice shocks, new are like $37ea or so.

Its the newer one with the boot obviously lol.

I would trade you straight across for a set of Rally's with rings and caps, but they shipping would probably be a killer.

Ok, changed the throttle cable, now that is smooooth. It was so rough, it made me look like a newbie driving a stick for the first time and this thing is an auto....

Started on replacing the lock-outs, but found a bad lower ball joint, so started changing that, but had to stop bang'n on it, when the kid went to sleep. However, MAN was that clean and easy. I can tell someone has been in there before, but they did a really nice job, anti-seize in all the rights spots, just like I like it.
Since i was done hammering, I started on the heater core. THAT SUCKS! I haven't done one of those in a while and now I remember why. WHY couldn't they just make a nice access door, they knew it was a wear item.....

Next, comes the other side lock-out and hopefully no more surprises, then the steering pump & gearbox.
Well, 5am comes early, better hit the hay.

good start, I see the snow is falling in your avatar....does that mean the snowball is rolling on this project as well?

76zimmer - I would like to think this project is rolling along, until I get sidetracked, hey look squirrel...
Mr.Clean - Nice meeting you too. How was the riding at Powers?

The riding was excellent..... Up until my grip decided to slip off my handle bars mid flight sending me end for end across the ground. All I can say is thank goodness for helmets and neck braces :thumb: oh and spare parts. Bent my bars up good but threw a new set on last night and heading up to silver after work with deuling to go riding again:thumb:

So, while TRYING to finish up the hub swap, which turned into a ball joint replacement, I realized late yesterday that I don't own a Ball Joint Spanner Wrench to the upper balljoint adjustment... I must have borrowed one years ago when I did this last. Oh crap, NEW TOOL coming my way!! I'll check the local GOOD auto parts stores tomorrow, the guys at Auto Zone (the only ones open on a Saturday past 3pm) said they had never heard of that and asked if I knew what it was I was looking for....
http://www.amazon.com/OTC-7080-Joint-Spanner-Wrench/dp/B0002SRDEGSo I went on to finishing the new heater core. down comes the inner fender, because I couldn't fit my hand in to get the bottom bolt. So as of right now, new hubs, NOT installed, new balljoints, left side installed, but not all back together yet, mostly disassembled heater assembly, inside and out..... i don't know if I can call this progress. Well, back at it.

after dinner EDIT: got the inside buttoned back together, as far as the heater goes. Now just need to clean, install all engine compartment heater stuff and I won't have a foggy windshield anymore, as least for that reason.... Who am I kidding, my wife wouldn't like the vinyl seats...

Right front ball joints are installed along with new lock-out. Just need to finish the heater blower shroud in the engine compartment and that will be done.

NEXT: new power steering pump & gearbox!
Then tires, then lift.....

I mostly work on it, after the kid goes to bed, only get maybe an hour or so and at that, half the time something comes up and I never get into the garage. So it's not easy to line up people to do work. And tonight, I just finished working on house projects....
But, I do appreciate the offer though!!

OK, the heater is all back together AND cleaned. I must have cleaned out 2 pounds of New Mexico dust from inside the ductwork.
I'd be excited to take it out for a drive, but all it does is rain and that's all that we have in the forecast.
We NEED rain, but maybe not on weekends!! :waytogo:

Soo there is a white jimmy with the same grill as yours in north muskegon.

I know this as I was just out dropping some parts off to a guy, and I saw the front grill and started waving like a douche, only to come to the conclusion that it in fact was a gmc grill and not you driving... :doah::haha:

And good update Jeff!

Someday I'll run into my trucks twin and the guy will say, "watch out for random people that wave at you while driving these awesome trucks!!"

I realize that my updates were missing something, PICS!!!!

Pics of the cleaned up, new heater core & resealed heater (I would say A/C but, the rest of of the A/C stuff is missing).

New sexy Warn lock-outs, mmmmmmmmm yummy

Here is a pic of my stead without snow, sadly still inside, but getting closer to driving her out and to the tire shop

Almost ready to toss in the new gearbox

I have a lighter silvery, hammered paint for the rims, which would look better than the dark paint, now they just need new 33's wrapped around them

The steering gearbox is now IN, but the pump is about 3 feet away.
Tried something new; went with just the pump and had to install that into the reservoir, instead of buying a pump w/reservoir. Not too bad to replace, we'll see if it leaks though, which I heard could happen...

Off to bed, gotta head to Detroit Diesel tomorrow for work.
