89 Blazer w. CUCV cab and axles

The pictures were kind to it. It is the rustiest K5 I've ever seen. I keep trying to talk myself into turning it into a budget wheeler but every time I look under it, I sober up. Most of the nuts twist off with the bolt or just get cut off. That's why the garage is open in freezing cold weather :haha:.

Yeah, I figured that must be the case. The small glimpse of the rocker panel was a little bit...umm...revealing? :haha:

The driver's side was repaired before and is getting tender again. The passenger side was repaired once and is gone again but that is because it was cut off in prep for another one. That was many moons ago and only served to accelerate the rust process :dunno:. Still, I did give some thought to removing the doors and boat siding it. This is when I know K5s are addictive :saweet:.

Here's some pics of the new carpet. It is a made in the USA unit flagwaverwhich is nice.

There sure is a lot to know about mounting a plow. The first thing I learned is that it does not work with cross over as the plow frame would now be in the same plane as the pitman arm operates. Thia means that mounting it on the Trazer would require going back to the old push/pull set up. The second thing I learned is that there are a lot of different variations on how to mount a plow. 1987, 1988, and 1989-91 are all different. So, I was going to just put the 1991 serpentine set up on the 1987 (and still may) like Martin suggested. But it looks like I should invest in a new water pump rather than put the old crusty one from the 1991 on the 1987. And that is about the same price (or close enough) as the hydraulic bracket kit that SweetK30 suggested costs. The bracket would also be the easiest solution. The catch is finding one. I am looking for the brackets and have a few people that are looking to see what they have. So, if there is a bracket kit out there, that will be plan A. If not, it will be converting the 1987 to a serpentine set up. So glad you guys mentioned the ideas. The only other idea I had was putting a new transmission (among other things) in the 1991 and trying to run that. Uggghhh, so much fun.

call me! I may be able to work out the plow stuff with you! 413-522-6764 I think we each have what the other needs... I just started the plow install on my 90 suburban last night.

if I had known you had crossover I would have told you the framework wont clear the draglink on crossover.

and frame wise its the same 73-91 but just engine brackets got some options mostly .

I got my setup from a mid 80's . bolted it up to the 79 frame no problems . got serp belt install kit for setup I had and been running it for years .

It will all work out one way or another. I am totally getting schooled on Fisher plows right now though :ears:.

Thanks for the help. If you are not careful, you will restore my faith in humanity :thumb:.

if you need pics I can take some of mine .

and you never said what size blade you got ?

It is looking like the 1987 Jimmy is going to get the 1991 Serpentine belt set up. The blade is a 7"6" which is perfect for what I plow. The guy I got it from who owned since 1997 said he switched the plow on it.

Little update. Been working on getting the interior back together. That involved converting the K5 bucket seats to regular cab bucket seats. Ended up modifying two sets of regular cab bench seat brackets to work. Also, sourced some regular cab seat belts and started laying some carpet. Not a lot of progress. But it is something.
