So my tailgate glass is so slow to go up, won’t close all the way, rear key won’t work, and tailgate latch won’t work. I ordered a parts to rebuild the tailgate, including a new motor/actuator from motor city K5. I’m having a little anxiety about this project. I can’t find any YouTube videos showing this. Anyway be have any experience rebuilding the internals of a K5? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I added solenoid from the dash switch, 10g wire to the new motor, 10g ground to frame. The tailgate switch is wired separately from the dash. Check your voltages. It's really not all that hard. I am not a mechanic, I just work on stuff. The real mechanics on here have forgotten more than I'll ever know.

It's pretty straightforward. You will be able to remove all the guts with the tailgate on the truck. Pop the cover off, and take some pictures and take it from there. You will be good and if you get caught up post pictures here.

Don't forget new felts for the window C channels. Those are always hammered. I've rebuilt a couple. If you need to take the glass out, you will need to remove the top rubber seals. Make sure the drive cable is lubed. The drivers side safety latch usually causes a problem with the motor and stops working. That safety connection can be bypassed and not really needed. A relay kits sometimes helps speed up the window. Hit us up with any other questions

You say motor/actuator. Motor City K5 also sells the gear drive setup that eliminates cable (motor and regulator). Is that what you got?
