89 Suburban DD Build (finally a 3/4ton)

It's worth noting that it took several tries for him to receive one that wasn't damaged or ruined in shipping. Not sure whether he'd recommend using one after going through that headache. :dunno:

...my bad...

I kinda of want to upgrade the size like larry did. Can't remember if he used a BB or diesel radiator. It's always run on the warm side

I should still have the brackets and shroud for a diesel radiator from a 84 c20 I parted out

For consideration, I'm very positive about my Ron Davis radiator. It was expensive, but it's a very high quality piece of gear that will last, and I felt justified treating it like an investment in engine longevity.

I still have the dimensional drawing from 2012 if that might be helpful.

Thanks. Checked those out and would love to have one of those but might be a more than I can do now. Probably gonna try the spectra when I get back from my trip.

Update haven't been on here in a while since I lost the old forums on tapatalk. I've had my exhaust redone with a single 3" pipe and a single flow master. Sounds great but after two weeks it's almost a bit too loud but I did get my almost completely clogged cat removed. The burbs been pretty doggy but I was hoping that was due to the bad cat but having it removed didn't make a difference. It's almost like it's off and on being doggy.

Here's what's been done
New rebuild with 750 miles on it
Rebuilt thottle and injectors with new sensors
New plugs
New wires
Timing checked 3 times set to 0 with the dist wire unplugged
Checked for vaccum leaks.

Some things Im thinking I need to check next.
Egr valve
O2 sensor

Sitting here in the dark waiting for our power to turn back on after the nasty windstorm 3 days ago....

Also, is your Flowmaster a 40? I did that once... That's why my current setup on the burb is a Flowmaster 50 with single 3" in and dual 2.5" out. It sounds a lot like many of the new trucks with a cat back exhaust. Pretty rumbley but pretty tame. Never embarrassingly loud and on the highway it is very quiet with no drone.

Thanks gonna look into replacing the o2. I'm thinking eventually I'm gonna replace this muffler. It sounds cool but kinda getting old being so loud.

I heard talking to a friend some of the tbi 350s had brass gear distributor that wear out a d retard the timing?

Something you might consider is if your cat was almost clogged, a lot of carbon might have built up in your EGR passage in the intake if there was any kind of flow reduction out of the tailpipe. You may need to tae off the EGR and clean it and run it a few times to clear it out.

I THINK that no tbi trucks got the special distributor gear. I am pretty certain that's a roller cam only thing.

Yea should be special gears for roller & billet cams.
If you have an adjustable timing light should be able to see what the timing is with the computer hooked up.
