So should it be a V3500 or V30? My 91 was V3500 series and I thought the R/V series had 4 digit model numbers?
Rock auto is showing V30, hmm interesting.
I could be wrong but I thought chevy is v30 and gmc is v3500
I would buy that haha.

Being up here in the cold frozen hell...urrr North, I've been in the need of a jump box. I have had too many close calls starting the diesel and one tow truck experience already. Winter is just starting here and we've had -10 degree days and some crazy ice days already.
I have to be mindful of things like freezing in place now that hiking out isn't an option yet, due to endurance levels alluding me.
This is what I picked up after reading through a lot of material online. I will let the collective know if it was worth it.

Good unit. Heavy though. Used JNC units on the wrecker at the dealership. The got use all over on the lot if not on a call.

Yeah I noticed that but with 3 trucks at the shop and only 1 driver for now I have a lot of batteries sitting in the yard. I try to rotate what I drive but I go back to the comfort of the diesel lol. My main reasoning behind this is not having to wait for AAA. Normally my trips to doctors from homebase etc are within walking distance for you 2 legged folks. I need winter spikes in my peg leg.
Battery shut off switches and trickle chargers are your friend.
I just did a six vehicle shuffle of trucks that sat thru many nights of freezing temps.
Most have switches, a few I disconnected the batteries, all started right up after sitting for weeks.
I only had a trickle charger on one because the battery was 4 years old.

I didn’t mean that it was bad for it to be heavy other than lugging it around. Often the little ones didn’t have enough umph to get a diesel going.
I replaced one JNC unit for a harbor freight box because I needed it now and the part store we got them from was out and would have one for a couple of days. It was a little cheaper, almost as big but the quality wasn’t there (duh). Might have lasted a month. The JNC boxes were good for a year or more with consistent abuse from everyone.

Oh for sure on weight. I had a lithium one for a while but it struggled to start a 350 with a moderately drained battery. I wanted to make sure it would work all winter and it's weight shouldn't be too bad swapping between trucks. Battery tender is the next order for all 3.
JNC is a good brand we used them a lot in my fleet career. The blue 660 would start 3208' and 3116 cats no problem. The batteries are replaceable. I have a Peak brand with tire inflator, on my second battery.

I'll post some tomorrow when it's light out. I just took it to the gas station and local burger joint for it's maiden voyage. It has an intermittent death wobble when you hit the brakes hard. (PO warned me) Other than that and the passenger side tank being unhooked for who knows why, I love this thing.
I was given the name for this V30 from my brother @Fastereddie.......... It will be known as WONTON
Ordered a Superlift 3.5" lift kit to give me a reason for 17" wheels and some 35's along with left over ez inch and other assorted ORD parts.
Plan is to replace the carpet with vinyl floor matt and have seat reupholstered. Pull out a few PO speaker boxes which include ones bolted to the lower door panel. These get in the way of easy egress for my size 15 feet and pirate leg. I'd like to leave it all due to awesome sound, but it's gotta go.
Smaller diameter steering wheel and adapter is on the way already.
I have 2 new 17" wheels as spares for the 77 K5 that will be donated to WONTON and a generic steelie transferred to WIGGUMS.
IF my health is still improving and everything works out, my plan is to take WONTON to BB23 and do some of the scenic / easy runs. I think it'd be cool to see an off road service body out on the trails. It has the room for equipment and tons of spares lol.

Sounds good @imiceman44 are you passing nearby on the trip?
I am talking about bb23, I want to go but I don't think I will have my wheeler done by then so I will drive my 98 suburban and do some easy trails with you.
We can meet somewhere on the way and caravan the rest of the way if that's what you mean
