89 Suburban is gone....added a K5 in it's place..87 V30 WONTON

Did a little wheeling with the wife to our secret shooting spot. Weird weather for most of the trip. It was sunny and hot, then flipped into wind, rain and 1/4-1/2" hail, then back to spring time. Flash floods and hail piled up along the highway trip home...crazy.

Going to tackle the ORD front coil over conversion on the 77 K5 (before it's too hot to do anything). I have ZERO experience with coils and any type of shock hoops. The kit is a trim to fit hoop setup, how do I go about measuring for the height of the hoops? I'm wanting to stay close to 4" of lift. Any pointers are appreciated.

Went out with my sidekick today (wife), she shoots better than I do. Weather was perfect and our spot has yet to be discovered, hopefully stays that way, but the scammers / thieves are closing in. The burned up side by side is evidence of that. Had a little fun with full load 44 mag in a 3" barrel Smith while the wife tore up the steel with 9mm.

Hell yes. Wish I could of made it.

Shootin looks fun

Didn't see anyone hit on the comment about the hoops/coils for the 4" lift

No worries on it, @Fastereddie hooked me up offline. His work schedule saved him from a full install of fun.:haha:

Yeah, me too! I have a few things to learn and other stuff to brush up on. My biggest concern is starting it and then work taking off again. I'm worried it would sit if that happens.

Went out to our camp spot from the early 1900's for extreme social distancing. Zero interaction with humans was pretty cool, it felt like we had the desert to ourselves.

Adventure wheeling behind the shop to let the dogs run free. Bumper and light work too.

Another wandering thought.....is the 77 core support the same as the 80 style? I've always like the square headlight setup of the 80 and will swap them in when done with coil over swap if it's a straight parts swap. The grill needs freshened up and figure while apart would be a good time to do it.

I believe the square headlight 80 support is different. I think I still have one somewhere. I'll post up some pics later if I can.

Is it the same split as the hood change?

Kinda. the embossed hood started in 79. Many people will argue but the square headlight was available on late 79s also. After thinking about it I believe the square grill, and splash apron might be different also. 79s and 80s also had a chrome cover over the splash apron that lined up with the extended headlight bezels.

It's raining pretty bad here so pics kinda suck but it appears the supports might be the same. The square headlight has a bracket/bucket that bolts to the support. Black support came with a square headlight setup.

Do you have both buckets? If so what do you need for them?
