8lug backing plates... which would you use, full or open?

I have a set of full backed backing plates and some brackets (open back) from a D44. Which would be better to use? This area gets alot of rain and snow truck will see mud on the trails, not so much rocks. I'm thinking solid back, not that it makes alot of diference just curious what others would use.

I chose open since it will be easier to clean them out with a house without pulling a wheel, plus they have less of a chance of getting caked up liek the full backs would in the mud. /forums/images/graemlins/dunno.gif /forums/images/graemlins/thumb.gif
