9 in lift and 44's

thanks for the pics... got me thinkin if i plan to run the springs i have now and then upgrade to a longer spring in the future will the steering have to be modified and what would it be? i know driveshafts would change to.. anyuthing else when runnin the front axle up 2 - 3 inches like any interferences with stuff crossmembers or nehting???

so far i have not broken the d44 .. thanks god cause i dont have enough for a d60 yet..have abother project i have to get on road first.... i have not really wheeled it on the rocks yet since im still doing so much to it but i was out at ocitillo wells doing some testing last weekend and it handled the stuff i threw at it with big block power .. im running right around 400 hp .. it handled the sand with 5psi in my tires and full throttle runs .. i started to climb up some big rocks but i was limited to what i can do since i need hydro assist to move the meats around while im flexing it out .. its defintaly not a big enough axle but its doing its job so far .. its got warn premiums ,detroit,x over .. i bought it from a guy that way and havent even had to open it up yet.. so maybe the axles are upgraded to?? if it aint broke dont fix it

haha yeha ive broken a few d44 shafts in my day,

picking up a open d44 tonight for 70 cdn, including a rear 12 bolt.. blown posi.. he wants both gone.... rear is going to scrapers

i broke my front teeth on a rock through the chrome diff cover, now ive got a custom solid 3/4 rod diff cover..

ill wheel it open with a 350 4 speed next year, about 350hp..... 4:10s, and 39.5 tsls.. well see how long it will be until I need a dana 60, haha

so imm hoping I have your luck with the d44..

yea the thing with me is my truck does alot very easily so it starts to get scary without hydro assist and a roll cage so i basically dont wheel it like i want to .. so after it gets the cage im sure ill brake somthing the first trip .. thne ill upgrade to a 60

i dont understand... i mean everybody who has a d60 says how the d44 is basically a worthless POS if you go taller than 35's... im about to slap on some 37" mud grapplers and after reading the posts on ten bolts and d44's i was a little nervous... since i have torn up u-joints and busted axle housings open in the past with my 10 bolt and 33's... but i was a noob to it all... still am. but now with my 3/4 ton there are so many mixed reactions on d44's. some run 37's just fine. others have skinny 38.5's and run them just fine... and even 39.5's with no complaints.. then my friend who owns a local 4x4 shop told me how he has been lifting trucks for years and using the d44's on 40" and up tires without a problem... sure some have broken. but the majority have worked just fine. so then i see you running 44's on the little axle and im just astonished. idk.. just so many mixed reactions that its kinda spooking me out.:eek1:

well for people who seriously offroad( like me) i want the peace of mine knowing that if i turn a bit of rpm up a section on a trail that i wont break.. thats where the d60 comes in... bigger axles, gears, and king pins... thas the reason people go dana 60.. also with 39.5s and horsepower/gearing/lockers a dana 44 would blow up almost instantousley.. where as a dana 60 would handle it no problem....

i would drive 39.5 and larger on a dana 44... if it didnt see 4wd action... ball joints can only take so much abuse from a heavier, tire.. this is what ill be doing for winter, finding a 37 or larger tire and will be daily driving my truck...... it wont see 4wd action other then pulling people out of ditch and some snow wheeling, nothing technical where i can break the open 44.. and also i belive automatic and standard is a difference in how long the d44 lasts.. I belive and and have seen a 4 speed dana 44 last longer then automatic

basing110...u have any type of templet u, or any 1 for that matter, used to trim/chop ur fenders??? i plan on puttin sum 40" ltbs on mine and dont really wanna go much taller than what it is...3" susp and 3" bl...plan on a 4" susp w/shackle flip...
