'90 K5 - Stock reliable daily driver

Very nice writeup, buying a 1990 myself so keeping note of all these items!! Where did you pick up the 1/4" rod (off the top of my head, size could be wrong) for the seat brackets? I am planning on doing the exact same thing pretty quickly for the rear and then try and find a nice set of seats for myself in the front.

Yeah I'm figuring out my front situation right now. I got all the steel from Home Depot.. it's 1/2" steel rod, and 2x1/8" angle iron. I think it was about $60 for all the steel

Had a small fire under the hood a few months back. The thing i kept saying was how pointless a extinguisher was for me to have on a street rig. Now its one of the first upgrades i have on the list.

Cool. Your doing similar to what I am doing with my 89. Reliable DD. And so far mine has been. It's all stock as far as I know with 225k miles. I've had it since last October and the only problem I have had was the rear axle blew. Rebuilt it and it's been on the money since. The TBI sure is nice. I got lucky and my interior is super clean and all my power windows and locks work well. Only things that don't work are the cruise and gas gauge. And I have some rust to deal with in the future.

These are 16" pacer wheels with factory center caps. The tires are 265/75r16 coopers. I used special dual threaded lug nuts that allowed me to use a a cut down wheel nut cover from a later gm to keep them in place.

I also daily drive my 90 k5. I love it. Easy to work on. Pretty reliable. EFI and OD make it nice driver with classic appearance. I am just about to hit 100k miles on the truck. Bought a couple years ago with 85k. I replace most weather stripping. Had to fix wiring for rear power window. Added a relay kit to the front power windows. Added a second battery and aux fuse panel. Added some usb ports for the kids electronics. Added a merit plug for my Engel Fridge in the back. Rear axle blew up so I replaced with a 14bsf 6 lug. Best thing I did- Cut off the quad shock in the front! Rode like a lumber wagon- now it rides great with the factory two leaf front springs and a single shock.

I think the 265/75-16s would be the perfect tire size but I love my factory aluminum 15s. Currently have 31x10.50s which were the factory size. Thinking of some 33x10.50 bfg ats.

Very nice k5! Hows the mpg? I never daily drove mine in stock form, but looking to get a stock one again with intention to daily it.
