90 V2500 Sub - LIVEanimals Slow Build [Bit by the dark side bug]

We had some rain the other day so I snapped a pic, here ya go.

Now for the update my tire was warrantied so that's a positive. The AC clutch went out (waiting for parts) and my radiator started leaking again. I had it brazed last year but this thing likes to get HOT in the summer while running the AC. When I run the AC it reaches temps (according to my gauge) of 210* in stop and go traffic. I'm assuming the high temp/high psi summer days is what made the repairs fail and I think my cheap radiator cap isn't doing its job of venting psi to the over flow.

So.... How should I get this thing to run cooler? New radiator? Electric fans? Remote transmission cooler and oil cooler? What do y'all think?

90 V2500 Sub - LIVEanimals Slow Build [COOLING QUESTIONS]

New radiator and water pump and thermostat? Mine touches the left side of 210* when I go down the interstate but stays at like 185* or whatever most of the time. I guess you could try an 18 psi cap instead of 15 or 16 or whatever.

Stickers are good.

Oh and I now realize that I gave you some stank info. After a new radiator and water pump, my temp stays right at the left mark on the stock gauge, so about 185* I guess. When I drove it on the interstate the other day, it may have gotten right up to the mark, but that was because I had let some coolant spill out when I changed the top radiator hose last month. I had told you that it got up to 210* on the interstate but it doesn't. So you have a problem. :haha:

Check your gauge for accuracey before you commit to any repairs. Mine is reading about 7 percent higher than actual temp and hovers below indicated 210 on our 95 degree plus days with the air on. This is with a Be-Cool aluminum radiator, new GM fan clutch, Stewart High Flow stage II water pump and 180 degree T-stat. The engine is a low compression TBI 454 which certainly runs hotter than the old small block, but until I checked the temp with another gauge ( two actually) I was concerned about temp. As a side note, the voltage gauge is a full volt off as well.

I will definitely check the temp against another gauge. I think the plan for now is to incorporate electric fans and of course a new radiator is in order and move the trans and oil coolers to another area on the truck to help increase the amount of air flow to the radiator, even though the AC condenser is the culprit IMO, I think that will help immensely. Plus this little ol 350 should like it when the mechanical fan is scrapped.

Today was a fun filled day. A buddy and myself managed to rebuild the front forks on my HD. It started leaking after I laid it down in June. Just need to add fork oil and put the lights back on and she's done, another project crossed off the list.

Went on a little hunting excursion in Yuba Gap last night and this morning. Fun as hell, some sketchy tight trails in the Tahoe National Forest. The Sub did awesome, no complaints what so ever, snow wheeled great.

First light 7 am

Lots of snow up there already. What was your elevation? I didn't see a trophy shot, so I assume no elk. Of course you probably couldn't see 100 yards in front of you either.

nice shots.

I was shocked to see over a foot of snow at lake level yesterday.

You guys are more than welcome to keep that snow and ice there. I dont need it until all my units have actual working heat.

Really like this build, paint is in great shape. Not to mention this was the original direction of my Subs build until I found 40in Boggers on sale, then it was a downhill slide.

If I had to guess we were roughly 6500 feet, it's hard to judge after driving 3+ in the woods with a lot of elevation change. We went the day after the first storm so all the sign that we saw was a day old. By the looks of the tracks we found we missed some big bucks by a day or so.

Same here, it's was beautiful terrain though. How long have you been in Lincoln? I actually was huntin with a Lincoln boy and I work with a bunch of guys that were born n raised in that area.

We actually barely ran the heater, I'm quite warm blooded, we did have the low defrost on and that was about it. To much heat mixed with windy snowy conditions tends to dry out my eyes then I'm about worthless so it's better to just tough it.

Thanks to all for the kind comments, I'm quite happy with the Sub the way it turned out. It still needs some little things here n there but she overcame everything I threw at her these last 2 days, so I'm happy.
