91 K5 -Procrastination Build - bikini top!

Now that I have a higher resevoir I finally installed the cooler. I'm using an OE engine oil cooler turned on it's side mounted between the radiator and grille.

Lastly I'm in the middle of installing some angled Zero Rate like wedge from JKW Off Road. These are cut to 8° and have a centered hole, 1" offset and a place for 1.5" offset. These look identical to the ORD's and Diy4x products, it looks like JKW took a straight 1" block and cut it for me as the 1.5" hole is unecessary since it's on the thin side of the block and too shallow to use.

I didn't finish this as I just started too late today, that's ok though because it gives me something to do next Sat. :D

Yeah, I like that pump/reservoir setup better than my radiator hose.

Unfortunately, not a real cheap option...

union fittings ~$12 ea
hose elbows ~$15 ea (could be cheaper if you can find shorter hose)
Chrysler boot ~$15 (I saw a post stating these were discontinued)
+ whatever resevoir you use.

I know there's cheaper ways to do this but I already had the resevoir and I chose these fittings because I hate hose clamps. :doah:

I haven't been able to drive it yet but I intend to tomorrow. I've got my fingers crossed that the wedges I installed will fix the rear driveshaft vibe (or atleast make it liveable).

Proof I drove it today! For once I was there buying carwash (not for the Blazer), not parts. :D

I'm questioning things, so allow me to ramble some tonight....

As I said before, I had installed some angled (not quite) 1" blocks in hopes of fixing a bad rear driveshaft vibration - no go. :( The vibration may be somewhat better but it's still aweful. I DO NOT want to spend the money on a CV driveshaft because right now it's so far out of the budget it aint funny but that may be my only resort if I intend to drive it on the street.

Something else that's bugging me is the front 52's, way soft and "boat-ish". I expected this and I'm not ready to give up yet because I don't have shocks so the ride is probably exaggerated. That said, I'm really thinking about going back to a stock length spring like a Tuff Country 6" to bring back some of the streetability. I don't know.... I don't hate the way it drives now but I'm not sure if I'm going to like the way it rolls in a turn and never really rights itself until an opposite turn, it's like it constantly drives with a lean to one side or the other.

Oh yeah, the carb has a huge dead spot that sucks too but it runs really smooth and pulls strong. burnout

I also finally swapped my electric window regulators for manual, such an easy job! I had been dreading doing it because I thought it would be a tricky PITA but it was super easy. I think it took longer to get each door panel off than it did to swap the regulators. It's nice to have the windows down for the first time in the 10 years I've owned it. :doah:

Mine was all over the place when I drove it on stock height 52's and no shocks. Once I put the shocks back on it made it driveable again. Then once I put hydro assist on it took care of my death wobble.
My shocks are in the stock location on the axle and frame and they seem to work fine just drivin around. Nowadays I don't have any places to go wheeling nor do I have anyone to go wheeling with, so stock location works fine for me, for now.

Thanks, that is reassuring to know it'll get better. What kind of shocks did you go with?

I'm also researching using a Super Duty front 1350 CV driveshaft for the rear of the blazer. Searching via phone sucks but it seems like this may be a good option without breaking the bank.

I'm using whatever shocks I got whenever I lifted the truck using the 6" Tuff Country EZ ride springs from ORD. I think they are SX8000.
I have some ford shock towers I need to mod and then get some new shocks. But the ones I have work for now.

Cool, I was hoping you did not have some eleventy billion dollar fancy shocks. :D

Glad you got it running and driving. I had the same problem with body roll with my 52s. I went with ProComp adjustable shocks. Forget witch ones, But they have a dial with 5 settings. Works good!!!
