Well, I got the front end torn down tonight and it's a good thing because I found water in the right side bearing hub. Not sure why or how but there was water between the full time cap and the outer bearing, not a lot but enough to run out when the cap came off. the only thing I can figure is the OE full time caps down seal well. :dunno:

Midway thru tear down I was thrilled to see that one of my drain pans has a hole in it (read; 1st oil spill in the new, clean shop :angry1: ).

I'll find out this weekend if the buyer of my gears wants the Detroit too. If so, I'll start pecking away at the machine work on my spare 454 block. :woot:

After the Christmas panic is over I plan on ordering the Jana 76 install kit.

The shop is looking awesome, the axle is coming along nicely too! The Jana 76 is pretty cool.

As for your engine, I say the roller cam is worth saving up for, quicker ramp rates gives more lift through the entire valve opening for more flow and power over almost the entire RPM band compared to the same duration flat tappet, not to mention no breakin worries and less friction.

Nice. I knew I should have scheduled a stop there on the way home this weekend. The rest of the family might not have liked it though.:D

M-I-L family Christmas and her Birthday all in one in Pensacola. I threatened to call you to come rescue me from the family stuff but that didn't go over so well.:D

Next time just send me a txt and I'll call you back needing help cause I'm broke down near you. ;)

I was close to you saturday, tarussell and I met for breakfast that morning over that way. I had to give him my take out Detroit & gears so he could set them up in the buyers axle later that day.

I'd consider putting the axle like this, I took it in out at least 20 times. I think this made it much easier

I was really wanting to avoid pulling the housing but you're right, with as many times as we'll pull the diff it's just the smart thing to do. I did get my J76 kit Friday and I'll take the ring gear by a machine shop this week to talk about trimming it (still uncertain). Hopefully we'll start on the axle soon.

On a different note, I dropped my spare block and crank off at the (same) machine shop a week ago. I expect to hear back later this week on which way to go with those parts. This will be a painfully slow build (as if I could actually go slower).

For my fellow bling lovers, I'll probably dismount the H1's next weekend and put the tires on the Weld wheels. I'm looking forward to this because I think it'll really change the look of the truck.

Ugh... So much to do and so little money. :(

I strongly urge you to pull the housing. rolling an ARB in and out was a major beeotch! you cant immagine how many muscles you dont use everyday will be sore from sitting on your A$$ and holding that chunk at chest level for and trying to get it in the housing. Forarms abs and back were the victims. Swore off ever doing it with the axle under the truck again.

just my 2cents

Ok, no progress on the motor because the machine shop hasn't touched it yet. They did however turned down the D70 ring gear for my Jana76 project - trimmed 3/16", I picked it up this week. Plans are to pull the housing and start setting it up in the next week or two.

Now, time to pic whore...

I did get my wheels swapped today and they are definitely going to change the look of the truck. Since the front end is torn down I can't back it out for a full shot but I took some shots from the rear. You'll also see I've installed a truck tailgate and about half way thru installing my Diy4x rear bumper.

The new combo, 43" SX's on 16.5x12 Weld D7 wheels. No beadlocks for now but at sme point I'll grab some Inner Air Locks or the like.
