looked at this truck with a friend. all stock other then the efi. its made by edelbrock. he said the po put it on. taking it for a drive. it seamed more responsive then my stock tbi. this a good step up? my friend thinks most edelbrock stuff is crap. ireally dont know. would think it would cost alot to do to. like 450 500 to add that or so. so what do you think?

thanks

That is the MPFI conversion for TBI trucks. It runs around $900 and uses the stock computer with a new chip that edelbrock will burn when you send them your chip. You will also need a higher pressure fuel pump which edelbrock sells for about $100.

I want to do it to my rig as it is also 50 state legal.

I've heard good things about it. Considered it for a while for my own truck, but I don't need it just yet. I've heard it's way better than the Holley Projection stuff.

the rig i just bought has the edelbrock mpfi on it, with a calibration module so you can tune it in. seems pretty nice to me so far, haven't played with it that much yet though

wow 1k. more then i thought. not to bad i guess. wants 3500 for the truck and some small parts. is Holley Projection the same kinda thing?

I heard that the standard Projection isn't closed loop, so it won't auto-adjust the fuel/air mix to compensate for altitude and whatnot. I have no personal experience with it. Supposedly it can operate closed-loop if you get an additional kit for it that's like another $700.

Even then, the Projection isn't MPFI, it's TBI. Holley does have a higher-end "Commander" series. Some of them are TBI, but within that product line they do have a MPFI setup. I've never heard anything about it though, good or bad, whereas I know the Edelbrock has been around a while and has a pretty good reputation.

I drove a truck with Edelbrock MPFI. If I had the $$$ I would covert my 92 1-ton in a second, Its alot more responsive than TBI.
