91 Suburban, Family truck build. She done :(

I'm really behind on updates,
So November of last year we moved back to Mississippi from Wyoming due to some family stuff.
Before we left I tried to fix a few things to not have a nerve wracking drive again. We got steering sorted out, and a few tune up parts.
The first day was flawless, we rolled out of Casper early and cruised right thru Colorado and stopped in north west Texas for the night.
Day 2 was north Texas to my wife's aunts house in Shreveport LA. We were rolling great, netting around 10mpg, right up until we got within distance of Dallas... then the trip went south.
When we hit traffic, it was typical stop and go. I made use of my really low first gear quite a bit. Apparently this caused a "fix" that I did to my crank pulley adapter to fail. When I did the adapter kit to use sbc serpentine setup on my bbc, the belt alignment was off my a rib on the crank. I found that 2 washers would put it into alignment. 2 washers is also the amount to allow the hubcentric spacer to no longer seat in the balancer. This caused a belt slap at 2k rpm and would walk the pulley of off the water pump. I of course didn't realize what was happening until we got home.
We killed 3 water pumps, including one @AgDieseler tig welded the pulley on to.
After an expensive tow to Louisiana, and rigging up a tow bar we did make it home in time for Thanksgiving.

We got it home, and got unpacked. It took a few days for me to want to look at her after my defeat in Texas. But I dug in and found the issue, didn't really "fix" it, but reconfigured the washers until I need to put a new harmonic balancer on.
It was daily driven thru the winter until I bought a DD.
Since then, I finished my seat swap, adding a console/ center seat from a dodge.
Cut the hood up and added a set of louvers to help get hot air out of the engine compartment.
Started with paint, despite the primer issue in the 90's the galvanized panels stopped a lot of rock chip rust from wrecking the body. I'm still not done, summer got hot and busy for us.

Inyerested in this. Got any more pics or info? Did you just adapt a jeep style tow bar? I thought about doing that but my rig is pretty heavy and most of the jeep tow bars spec 5k or less weight.

Since @nvrenuf asked.....

The truck has mostly sat around since I got a "new" dd last spring. I drive it to work on occasion, and use it around the yard to drag stuff.
Truthfully I kinda hit the point I was bored with it, so after much hmmming And hawing I decided to do some body modifications....
It is getting chopped and bobbed. I really liked how the KellyJohn burb turned out and am going to use his build to help along.
@nvrenuf was kind enough to donate his old cage pieces to me so I have the start to a cage to work off of.

The side view really shows the rear overhang. What will you do about the gas tank when you bob it?

Well I've been procrastinating on this post but it's my post of shame....

Old girl has started to get parted.

After sitting for way to long we made the decision to sell what we can, and build something that can be more useful to us than the burb.
Truthfully between getting bored with the truck and that it didn't get used for what it was built for it was an easy decision to make.

One tons went quickly for much more than I was into them for and went to a guy who wheels.

I gave you a “like” but only because it’s what you want, I still hate that it’s happening. Now, start a new thread in the “Other Rides” forum.

Don't scrap that grill and radiator support if you don't get someone wanting it. Those aren't as common, as you probably know.
