91 Suburban V2500 - Tow/Weekend Rig - Build Thread

I need to triple check, but my painter did his absolute best to encapsulate it from both sides.

So, I think it's painted as best as it can be. If factory paint lasted 34 yrs, this round should do ok.

Just trying to search any other "causes" of this rot, and haven't found anything on CK5.
If it's painted it's good but if you put screws to attach the piece, you break the seal in the whole so put a waterproof sealer or silicone in the whole before putting the screw you eliminate the water intrusion

That was my thought. Thanks.

Core support paint needed a refresh. Rest of the truck was looking too sharp.

Painted core support, headlight buckets, headlight rings.

Reassembled. Ordered new turns, grill mounting parts, and side marker lenses.

Trying to put this thing together without too many upgrades. Easy enough to come back and do LED and headlight upgrades after it’s reassembled.

Touched up cowl paint area last night, reassembling cowl tonight.

Then onto doors. Seals, power window parts, clean lock parts, etc.

Finished rebuilding and reassembling driver doors.

Never doing vent window seals again. They had some paint on them, but really, should have left rhem

Needed to turn the truck around in the garage, and decided to take a much needed test drive. Good reminder that this thing is a runner.

Hasn’t really been driven in 4 months.

I rebuilt one pair, the next truck I went with a pair of brand new wing window assemblies.

The seals that I bought were pretty nice. But the fit/finish once installed, and fitment into my door wasn’t great.

I’m going to try and heat them and adjust better when the weather warms up.

Broke original bow tie removing it.

Reproductions don’t exist right now. Plastic welded mine back together, sanded, painted exterior.

Not bad. Will replace when reproductions are back.

Plastic welder has been so useful in the last few months. Well worth the $30.
