'93 Blazer build thread

You already replaced the best part of the truck... you think I forgot?
I shall never forget the shackle step bolt... all those times it helped me up... instilled confidence in me as I climbed an otherwise smooth surface... never forget... the shackle step bolt of 2012.:pimp:

Narek

I can't even fathom the amount of skinned shins that ingenious device prevented...but it's spirit lives on through the exhaust exit, as it now resides hidden away, but never forgotten behind the robust, burly and partially boxed frame of the 3rd generation GM fullsize truck frame.

R.I.P oh great and merciful shackle bolt step of 2012, you were wise beyond your metallurgical structure:bow:

Design process of stepside.
Engineer 1: Hey you know that new pickup bed we designed?
Engineer 2: ya the one with all that space and it looks good also?
Engineer1: ya exactly, ya know ive been thinken.... i think it might have to much room and mayby look to good ya know?

The rest is history... :pimp::popcorn:

I really liked the way the truck looked with that tubed, but the great thing is we get to see what you come up with this time around:popcorn:.

i was also a fan of the tube bed. but make it usable i guess.
i'm surprised you didnt put the tube bed on that other project you had, wouldve looked sick behind that old cab.

Your never content :D
for the most part uhhhh......NO!!:D haha, I'm really not sure why though, I guess I can attribute it slightly to my friends being in the middle of their builds and feeling left out of the "build" scene, but maybe someday they'll be finished with their rigs and we can all go wheeling:dunno::haha:

thanks! and I've got some "good" ideas don't worry

What will this be, body change number 4?!

you betcha:pimp: and I can safely say it SHOULD be the last:whistle:

the bed was cool but I kinda want to go for the "sleeper" look I guess and I have some bad and good news about that Ford build as well that I need to update:rolleyes: some plans have changed but for the better rest assured

little teaser from last weekend
i only get to work on this on weekends so progress will be relatively slow

made some good progress this weekend, got the bed cut and mocked up to basically where it'll sit when finished

it will definitely need to be trimmed behind the rear tire and might even need some wheel well work to clear the tires

i really like how it's coming along though and final length will be just under 7 feet, more than I had originally anticipated without really sacrificing much clearance

Nice!

Going to do some roll bar/ cage tube in the bed?

I'm undecided on tube work thus far, even with the current front tube I'm beginning to think less is more, as far as weight and width go

I'll just need to be a more precise driver or deal with damage as it comes

I was truly surprised at how much lighter the sheet metal bed is than the tube bed was, the weight doesn't really register when your building it piece by piece I guess

progress...sorry for the cell phone pics

everything came out extremely straight and square about a 1/4" variation taken from diagonal corners

you can also see where I began the rear trim
