So make sure your mounting in the front is up to the task, we rewelded the frame, and used 1/4in angle and boxed it all in. Brackets are held on with half inch hardware 3 of them to be exact on each hanger
 
Thats what his was, with a 3/8in plate sandwiched above the bottom portion of the frame rail and the leaf spring mount. I guess since the bolts didnt break, 3/8in wasnt going to break, and the mount itself was tough, it just peeled the frame apart kind of like a sardine can. Major bummer, we found it about 3hrs before our local truckpull when we was going over the 5 rigs in my driveway that we were going to pull this year. So we capped the frame with plate, then used the angle on both sides of the mount, so far so good. Its probable that he was acting a fool with the truck, as I know his lifestyle, but it was just a relevant thought.

I agree that its relevant and you raise a valid point, luckily for me this is a street/camping/light duty trail rig and there shouldn't be a problem with frame damage. Hopefully she wont think its okay to jump it. Haha

Although i see SKYs kit drops the front of the spring to allow you to leave the factory cross member there, and i like that, DIY's kit uses 7 on each side and wraps around 3 sides of the frame. That added leverage from being dropped down might be what allows it to damage the frame.

There is 3 inches of drop built into the hangers themselves. This kit utilizes 2 sides of the frame. The ORD kit (this one) uses two bolts up through the bottom into the 3/8" tapped plate used for the tow hooks and one side bolt that uses a bumper mount bolt. The side bolt should keep the stress from being placed 100% on the bottom of the frame. I bought the kit used and there was a crossmember welded between the front hangers (someone bent it so I removed it). But I'm going to put in a different crossmember to really support it.
 
Ordered up a pinion seal for the front axle, some ORD shackle flip brackets and some drop shackles for the rear. So the rear will match the front soon ;)

(2) New 73-87 3/4 ton brake rotors
(1) 36" braided brake line -4
(1) 28" braided brake line -4
(2) 7/16" to -4 fittings
(2) 1/8" NPT to -4 fittings
(1) Y pipe 2.25" to 3"
(2) 1.625" grew shock loops with tabs
(5) Skyjacker hot pink shock boots
(1) Rancho 5000 steering stabilizer
 
Nice work on the SAS so far :thumb:

Got to add its awesome having a lady into the same things you are. And better yet had her own truck!

Rear lift is done!

Spent the day working on the misses truck again, getting to be a common occurrence. HAHA Anyway, finished up what I could on the front axle, since I don't have the calipers yet. And set it back down on 4 wheels for the first time in forever. Of course the back had no lift and it sat really raked. haha

Then I tore out the rear axle

I used a Snap On air hammer to beat the piss out of the rivets until they finally gave up. Then I used a punch and a hammer to push out the rivets and remove the hanger itself. Then I took the hangers and shackles apart, and set up the ORD hangers and set them up.

Had to replace the center bolt on one of the spring packs. It was slightly bent.....

Well you know i do have one lol. It only makes 90*s, if these are cheap enogh itd be worth the cost for a few over the time to make some.
