Yeah thats what they are. I wanted 4.10. But the place I got them from had these 4.22's. Said they would work better for the truck. They work great truck has more "go" now. Next is some engine work.

Never heard of that ratio...in fact pretty sure they don't exist. Might want to pop the cover and figure out what you got.

No thats what she has. GM RPO codes matched on the example they showed me. These ones are built on there machines to match. Of coarse stronger then OEM. Hell the code I ran on my axle come up with that ratio. I guess thats why they sold me these and not the 4.10's. Thats what I get for not doing research before hand.

GM has RPO's for everything. Your truck doesn't have candy apple red paint or a rear spoiler but there's RPO's for it. Guy's either clueless or lying to you.

In a quick perusal of various drivetrain component sites NO ONE lists a 4.22 axle for a 14SF and GM never did either.

Sorry to say man but those aren't 4.22 gears. Bet ya money on it. 4.11's or 4.56's likely.

Well I still have my original set. And those ones match teeth count and code wise. And all of my research is showing that a few trucks with the 14 Bolt SF have these gears. It is a weird ratio but she has them.

Sorry man, just not buying it. DOES NOT EXIST.

Find me the GM part numbers or anyone else's for a 4.22 14SF rear gear set or AAM Co 8.25" front gear set.

You won't.

If they match the old gears, why did you change them....?:dunno:

Tell us how many teeth are on the gears, that will accurately give the ratio.:waytogo:

Couldn't a company make any gear ratio they wanted really? Just a matter of how many teeth on pinion and ring gear and they could make many more than stock gears. I was looking on summit and they have a 3.90 gear ratio, I may consider doing that instead of 4.10s so I can have a bit more power with 32-33" tires and not have crazy high Rpms at hihgway speeds.

No, the dimensions of the ring gear dictate what is possible while still being strong. Also, wouldn't make much sense to make a ring gear for the rear that has no matching gear ratio for the front.

Yes I counted it myself. And I have a set for the front as well that are 4.22. I know I am new to chevy's and what not. But I am not when it comes to cars and trucks as a whole. I thought it was wierd to at first but after research GM did make 4.22 gears. Companies most likely dont make them cause it isnt a popular ratio. I mean mine came from a garage that had to make them in house.

Wait, a garage MADE the gears? As in milled them out of metal or cast them out and then hardened the metal?

I ain't bagging on you man but stuff isn't adding up.

Just post a pic lol. That will end this whole madness once and for all.

Here these are the old ones out of the back of the truck. And yes a shop made the ones that are in it now. Is that really that weird. When I had my Honda S2000 the shop Axiom made me a ring and pinion set for it. This shop does in house parts as well. It is a shop called texpro look em up.

That's whatever was in there before. The stuff in it now would answer questions.

They are the same. I counted the teeth and everything. I didnt know that was what was in the truck. From the little bit of looking I did before I bought them I thought I had like 3.something gears. But I was wrong thats why they told me to get this set and not the 4.10. That would have been dumb to drop down in gears. I guess this whole thing is just part of the learning process.
