Not really. I was talking buggy when he bought the Rockwells. Then we moved down here to Co and everything got postponed a couple years. I don't love the look of the ibex really. It's a great chassis, seems to work well, just not what I'm looking for. I want a proven race chassis, something that's made to be 114-116" wb (not can be made into), fabbed axle housings and such. Won't have ori's, even though I think they are excellent on a trail rig
Guess it's time to start tearing it apart.... Let the fun begin!

I think the big reason you didn't get any takers is the people who are into this stuff take a little more pride in building it exactly how they want it, not just buying a rig already built (built, not bought
). I bought a "somewhat" built rig with 1-tons, cheap 4" lift and 37" military tires....and I think I waited about 2 weeks before changing into what I have now. And I really enjoy building just as much as wheeling. I think you kinda have to or else the project will derail really quickly and just get sold off before finishing. Though it is a bad ass rig, most people will look at it more wanting parts off it instead of the rig as a whole.Anywho, hope the part out goes well....and text me with what you have
I agree, was just hoping somebody with more $ than time would show up! The whole thing is either getting parted or scraped. Only thing I might keep is the engine and harness. Maybe hang the hood on the wall for old times sake! I need to figure out exactly where to park it and dive in!
I don't know if I could do that to the Jimmy. I have never had to part out a build I finished. I really feel sad for you. It would be like losing a relative. Like a fun cousin.

I feel that way about it. It's the truck I bought after my senior year of high school, my first build, both my my kids first run at 6 weeks old and 8 weeks old, stuff I can't talk about on this thread.......

I was going to ask about the engine and it's needed peripherals.
I'm torn on the engine, would bolt into a buggy with the same mounts as a 6.0. Would be cheaper to keep than buy a 6.0, but it's not a 6.0.
I keep going back and forth on the 6.0 engine. But I know with my right foot and lack of control, I would rip the Jimmy apart.
Well your truck has tormented me since I first saw this thread. If I would have thought that it would have taken this long to not sell, I probably would have made a real effort to get some money. But I figured that if I could have sold my doubler and 1 tons and all the other stuff that I have, it would have been too late to buy yours. Then I would have been back at square one. I have thought seriously about an offer I have on my '72 in order to buy this, but I couldn't get serious about letting one go. My loss, I guess.
I'll let you know when I start. I can't fit it into my garage and close the door due to the Toyota in there. Probably going to have to do it on the trailer, and it's supposed to snow the rest of the week!
Only thing that might work for me is the tiny section at the bottom of post 1. "Other misc stuff I keep in the truck" lol
There is that! If you're going to keep the motors stock, a 5.3 with a tune really isn't that far off from the 6.0. The hp #'s are really close, the torque is the difference. Not a big difference until you start building a motor. The 5.3 likes rpm more too so you have to be setup to keep the revs up more compared to a 6.0.
I agree, I'm going to need them for a little bit to roll it around. If I do the trailer thing they will be coming off pretty fast to get the rig lower. Are you thinking wheels to or just tires? I also have a spare 44 tsl to go with them.Sell me the 42's for a really good price....that's a pretty good start
Wait...you'd rather have bought a rig than built yours yourself? How would you ever have learned to build an awesome truck? And how would you have ever gotten comfortable testing the limits on someone else's craftsmanship?
This is a problem that I have with my Suburban. It has had just enough tampering in its previous life for me to not trust things...
My next one will be a bought rig. Should be this one.
