i have a 96 Tahoe w/blown tranny(4l60e) np243 transcase, iirc,(pushbutton 4x) i have a friend who has found me a 4x4 suburban(I'm told it has a complete interior, actually was told that the whole sub is complete) its engine is blown, supposedly good tranny and tc, all for $500!

he says he's not sure of year, but he's positive its same body style as my 96, so that could be ?92-99 year models share same body, will 92-95 trans bolt right up to the np243? will 97-99 trans be same?

what all years had what trans in 'em, from 92-99 tahoe/suburban...will sub be 4l80e? if so, will the np 243 bolt up to it, can adapters be switched?who knows what trans &tc from 92-99 tahoe/suburban/..1/2 ton truck(also iirc)

i know nothing about these newer trucks!
please help, i don't want sub if tranny wont work.

if 4l80e in sub i can put its tc in also, couldn't i(can i keep switched 4x4)...i want newer interior in my old k5 too, but like i said if trans wont fit, I'm not buying it

They switched to a hex six pattern transfercase ( looks like stop sign ) adapter mid 90's . My 99 Sub has it , my 93 K2500 has the older six round pattern . And they went to removable bellhousing too .

And to top it off 1995 is different from 94 and 97 . The electronics is a little different plug wise .

so, my only choice is pretty much limited to a 4l60e from another 96 then? theres no other yrs that had a 4l60e w/same computer plug ins? and not any other tranny work?

4l60e is 93-94 , 95 , 96-97 , 98-00 vortec truck , 00-03 ls truck . 4l80e is 93-96 , and 97 up . Most subs will have small blocks and 4l60e's .

Some of the years have case differences , where plugs are in different spotsto match different systems , you can't just plug a gaping hole in the case . And the back of the case is 4 bolt on early models , and six bolt on newer models .

Of course I am just going off the internet , tranny shops listings , and several guys on truck and car forums .
