So in the last two years that my mother has had my old 02 Silverado I've had to replace 4 tailgate handles. As most of you know they suck and the tailgates do as well. They're one of gm trucks shortcomings that were not remedied until 08.
In the interest of no changing these junk plastic handles out any longer and I opted for this billet handle part#903 made by "AMI" allsales manufacturing Inc.
It's available in chrome aluminum, brushed chrome aluminum and polished aluminum. This is the polished aluminum bc I'd like to have it powder coated black for her eventually.
Install was pretty Strait forward, the one beveled socket head bolt that holds the bezel on was really tough to get started. It's right behind the handle but if you lift the handle it moves the bezel and also doesn't give a strait shot for even a ball head hex driver.
I replaced the bevel head with a flange bolt bc you can't see it and I could use a half inch wrench to turn it while holding the bolt strait.
It fits well and feels very sturdy. I'm sure it will hold up better.
