'99 4 Door Tahoe SAS Build, Taking it back a few years

It's there a drop arm on your steering box?

Yes, it drops some, or I guess as much as an arm can for this box. It's what Offroad Design sent with the kit. But if the arm was lower, or if the "drag link" had a bend and not straight, then I think i wouldn't have this issue.

I guess we'll know more after you call them. I'm interested

I had just a little clearance issue I needed to address with the tire contacting front fender. I also need to tie the brake lines back so they don't contact the tire.

But, I didn't expect issues with the steering rod. I know I'm not running bump stops yet, but the rod is contacting the frame sooner than I expected. This steering rod is straight. The one I got for the Suburban had a bend. I'm sure the Offroad Design guys will have some suggestions. I'm going to give them a call tomorrow.
That's one of the issues of a low slung axle swap on a gmt400, the drag link contacting the frame. Though yours looks worse than mine for clearance, I'll look at it tomorrow.

Looks really good! Making me want a Tahoe instead of a suburban now. I'm also betting a bent drag link should give you that little bit of clearance you need. Looks like you're already pretty close to full stuff in that picture right?

Thanks for the additional pictures of the exhaust. I will be running into a few more issues, as I will be trying to run no lift springs. We'll see how it goes...

Truck looks sweet BTW...

Ok, I talked to Stephen at ORD last week about the drag link contacting the frame. He said this is always an issue on a SAS with the low or no lift on the springs. I'm only running the 2" lift Tuff Country EZ ride springs. We discussed several options to fix this issue. I asked about having a bent drag link instead of straight, but he felt it wouldn't really help much before the link hit again or the spring contacted the frame itself. There was also the idea of notching the frame, but still the same issue with the limited up travel of the spring. Ultimately, the 37" tire was pretty much stuffed in the fender anyway, and eventually a 38" will be in it's place when the budget allows. So the conclusion is to add bump stops, and limit the up travel just a bit so the drag link doesn't contact. I'll have to make costume mounts for them, but it shouldn't be a major project. :weld:

Can't wait to see what route you go. I am running stock height springs, so bump stops will be a must with mine.

I have scars where the drag link contacted the frame on the Rubicon, but it isn't bent, so it's a pretty tough piece.

I'm out of town this evening, but when I get back home I'm going to twist it up in the ditch again out front and take lots of pictures. :thumb: Then I can plan from there and determine where the stops will need to be mounted.

How about running the drag link TRE on the underside of the steering arm?
