This is why I will always just do my own. I tried to convince my buddy to do his own and he is convinced he cant do it. you need the machine hooked up to all four wheels and all that jaz... just to set toe.

In the past I’ve always just set the toe myself with a tape measure and a straight edge. Really don’t know what I was thinking taking to them.

Yeah, it's a pain in the ass to do it right.
Jack up the axle and put it on stands. Check the axle with an angle finder, digital is my favorite. Zero it if you can with shims otherwise just take the number as your zero. Then start working on the camber. Camber shims behind the spindle is the only hard part. (setting caster is 2nd)

Toe is so easy with two people, two 4' straight edges (levels maybe) and a tape measure.

When you are done, it will be better than any work you would have paid for.

Should have went this route.

When I gained my composure after hearing him say that, I asked for the manager. The manager did it himself. And ultimately all he did was set the toe.

That's funny.

I've got a customer here that is $20 grand into a set of dana 60 crate axles for his jk Rubicon. He's been dinking with the steering and suspension so much he's paid me 4 times to set the toe.

...And ultimately all he did was set the toe.

That’s all I ever adjust. Camber plates have always seemed like a PITA.

I set my own toe on my SAS diesel, then had a shop check it. He said it was pretty good, then asked "who did the alignment last?" It took him a while to believe me.

I never set the toe on my Yukon, and in 30,000 miles the tires look good, so I guess the previous truck that axle was in had a good alignment.

I want to do shorter trips near home. I'm afraid I have a ujoint problem but it might be cured now? To many variables and a 7 hour trip isn't sounding good.
