My friend ( whose 99 Sierra 1500 4x4 front end I broke accidentally) wants to upgrade his driveline to possibly prevent future breakage. I THOUGHT I read on here somewhere that a 3/4 or 1 ton ifs front pumpkin would bolt up directly to the frame. Is that true? If so, or not, how can my friend upgrade his axles CHEAPER than the solid axle swap route? Thank you!

No, the 9.25" diff does not bolt in. Far from it actually. The frame and crossmembers are different in the heavier trucks.

I knew a guy that did it but he had to rebuild a lot of the frame and cross members to make it work.

Then he blew up the front diff at the dunes.

Yup, you're stuck with what you got until you decide to sas. I was researching several years ago about what it would take to put a 3/4 or 1-ton front diff in, and decided not to...
