My buddy has a 99 burb and the ABS brake control modulator thingy that acts like the proportioning valve among other things, leaks, which costs 1800 bucks supposedly to replace. I told him to just use a proportioning valve and add a line tee for the front brakes and get rid of the pattern 1800 dollar problem. My question is what will the main brain do if the ABS brain is wacked out? Thanks.

Disconnect the power to the ABS brain and the problem is solved. There is no need to do anything else to the system. Everything else should be fine.

The ABS pump/brain releases the brakes to prevent a full lockup based on signals it gets from the wheel sensors when the brakes are applied.

The ABS light should go on and stay on. You would have typical old brakes.
