Lol. Hopefully it's some safe storage when I'm in a store or wherever. Found out last night the only way that I can make the hinges work is welding them on the outside/backside. I really wanted them to be hidden on the inside. It would leave too much of a gap on the backside for them to clear between the top and bottom tho.

damn compromises. :haha:

:haha:

I can sympathize.. ordered a new black piano hinge for the glovebox last night.. and yeah, I'll find a way to go hidden if I can..

yours would be pretty hidden on the backside.. maybe notch the lid, so the round part can sit between the 2, with the flanges on the inside... :dunno: :D

Maybe when I get back I'll take another look, but until then, this dude is on Vacation from work, cell phones, emails, the garage.....

All I can think about is some beer, guns, 4x4's and maybe a little poker. Everything else can kiss off till I get back.

:woot: :haha:

Thanks Jacob.

Hopefully a little time away from everything will charge the batteries a little.

It will be nice to finish up the console and move on down the list...

Cut a little notch out of the back of the lid or the top of the console so the hinge can fit. If that makes any sense. Looks frikkin awesome btw.

Later,
Buddy

:waytogo: Have fun Mike!

did it cringe and hiss like a vampire when the suns rays hit it? :haha:

How about some, first day in the driveway, Friday night progress.. :pimp:

Started the night by making a few "Hinge pockets" :D, then I finally ended up welding the hinges onto the lid of the storage area. I had to weld them on the back side of the box. Not what I wanted at first, but I think that with a little more love, they will pretty much go unnoticed back there.

Cleaned up a little bit more with the hinges fully welded. It didn't move too much on the welds, but some. I still need to work on the gap between the two pieces so it closes nice and tight.

Hinges smoothed out.

Hinge pockets.

If all works out, I should have this thing very close to getting knocked out this weekend. First thing in the morning I need to re-install the entire seat bar/console thing and finish the center mount that lands on my transfer case mount. After that's in and welded up, back up on the bench she goes for the bottom panels and top finish welds. :o

It's Captain & Tennille. I figured you would get that correct, with you being wayyyyy older an all. :thumb:

And No, it's saved for my Kenny Loggins collection. :flipoff13:

It seems weird not being in the first gen section.

duh, I'm so dense... I thought he pushed the truck out into the driveway.. :doah: :screwy: thus the vampire line.. retard... :pimp:

slinking away... :haha:

You're telling me..:haha:

Greg and I were talking yesterday morning and he helped me make the push. It really does belong in here with the rest of the builds.

More eyes on it will do two things..... Maybe help out someone starting out on a full frame off and two.... More eyes will hopefully stop me before I do something stupid...:doah: :haha:
