Thanks Man,

I have been reading a lot on the Eastwood Forum with Kevin Tetz's. He seems to like the Evercoat products.

I ended up ordering a gallon of the Evercoat Rage Xtreme with the 30oz bottle of Evercoat Metal Glaze to mix into the final coat.

I think that I'm still a couple weeks away from using any of it though, so I really couldn't tell you how it is.

Hopefully this weekend I can drop the tub on the frame just to see how everything lines up. If all is good, I will finish welding up the boxes.

Once everything is welded and cleaned on the bottom side, I want to hang the tub back up and apply a liner to the under side.

Here is the question- I really like the heat properties of the lizard skin, but I'm a little apprehensive of applying paint on top of it. So here is the thought as I would like to go with black on the bottom. I have been reading up on the Lizard Skin and it seems like everyone applies it to the interior. I would like to apply this to the bottom of the tub then go with Al's on the interior with the color mixed in to the product. I just think that it will hold up better.:dunno:

I'm going to call Lizard Skin today and see if there is going to be any down-fault to applying it to the bottom up the tub.

What do you guys think?

Mike

Oh, I have been getting my Zink through West Marine.

Sweet! Rage is my favorate filler! :D

Lizard skin...any links?

Lizard skin...any links?

Here is the link to Lizard Skin

http://www.lizardskin.com/

It is the same product that VTBlazer used on his interior. I called on Friday and played phone tag with one of the reps all day. I'll give it another shot on Mon.

Made some great progress on the rear (behind wheel) quarter panel yesterday. Going out to weld everything up today. Pics on Monday.

At one point I was going to do the underside of the tub too, IIRC the rep was good with it.
It's on both sides of the firewall, can't see any differnce.

With Al's you'll get a 'bedliner' type protection, with the LS you'll end with a painted surface.
I'd say that under abusive condition's, Al's would hold up better.

I talked to the LS rep this week and she stated that 80% of the products (ceramic insulation and the sound control formula) are used as an "undercoating". So, I think that this is going to be the way the tub will be finished.

Well you guys have been scaring me lately with the door and panel fitment after the rust repair.

So this last weekend I unhooked the tub from the rafters and sat it down on the lifted frame for the first time.

All in all it didn't turn out that bad. I ended up using the same 4 shims that have sat under the rig for the past forty+ years. I had to place them under position one to close the fender/door gap.

I still have some remaining adjustment to do, but I'm pretty happy with the gaps. It did finally give me a chance to see all of the panels again, man the passenger side is rough. Still contemplating on ordering a full new side (fender, door and truck quarter). There is just so much damage I don't think that it will be worth all of the time in the end. My ultimate goal in this is to have less body filler in the truck when it leaves the garage than when it came in.:doah:

The outer rocker still sucks. It is short at the quarter and the fender. I don't think that there is any other way to fix it then by filleting it open and going from there. I really wished I would have ordered the OEM replacement for those.

Getting it back on the frame sure was cool though. I really like the stance of it so far, but it also puts some perspective on how much further I have on it.

Click on the any of the pics and they will enlarge. If you can tell me how to make pics bigger or to upload from photobucket or something, I'll send a huge box of cookies all the way up to Alaska.:D I just spent the last hour trying and I just can't figure it out.:doah:

The bondo is pretty deep all through this side. I think the PO hit a tree with the front fender and didn't stop until he broke the tail light.:dunno:

None of this I could really see when I bought the rig. Oh well, live and learn.

That sucks out loud! The larger pic helps.

To make the post larger from Photobucket, you'll have to save them as a larger file. Open them in, say MS Paint, change the actual size or pixels, then SAVE AS. Use a new file to save or you will alter your original photo. Doing this will make the picture appear grainy because you're stretching it. I think that this should work. No cookies needed. I'll try it with one of you photos.

And yes we all will be awaiting the fire up video:popcorn:

You and me both Bud. Hopefully I can make the cool vid like you did on fire-up.

It's going to take some time time to get it all together but it will be worth it.

Next step is to get it into the engine bay and start to figure out what I'm going to need to do with the firewall.

Nice!

Now that the pics are taken, be sure to get some green (or blue) 3M tape over all of the open holes on the intake, etc.

Cleanliness is key, and even a "clean" shop can still be a pretty dusty place...

Do you get monday off? A 3-day weekend could lead to some serious progress.

:usaflag:

Already on it. :waytogo:

After the pics were taken, I took off the little bling that I have for it so far..

Covered with one of the Husky 3 mill trash bags and taped up. At least for tonight.:D

I tell ya what, this has totally changed the attitude in the garage so far. After learning about rust repair and 1st gens. for so long, it's like a huge step forward.

Thanks again for the super duper package system, it took me 1/2 hour to finally get it off the cradle.:haha:

Oh, I haven't mentioned, this 69' is 100% rust free at the moment. At least to every available space that you can get to without splitting the quarter panel in half. :woot:
