Thanks Heath, good to see ya back around these parts..:waytogo:

Thank you, I've been looking a lot more often than I been posting lately, been pretty busy since the move. But I've been watchin"...

Nice work on the shackle hangers. Does that mean you need to move the front out a little too? It looks like a good solution. Although you could of spend that time making link brackets. :thumb:

Thanks Guys... :waytogo:

One more, one-off part built and off the list. It doesn't seem like it, but things are moving forward and eventually, hopefully, I won't need to make any more parts before I can get into painting this thing.

Sure would be nice to drive it one day...

Heath, you know someday I might get into that really fancy FAST injection and cool links, but for now, all I really want to do is finish it and take her for a spin. :woot:

Here we go guys. I'm one button away from getting these. I think these would look a lot better than my first choice earlier in the thread.

Whatcha think about putting these in a 1st gen? Also thinking about getting these in the Black suede. Do ya see any down side of getting it in that than the reg cloth. Leather is out, just do to it being so fuggin hot.

Since your asking for opinions, the purists don't tend to like those high-back racing seats in a convertible that sees time with the top off. Corbeau does make the Baja low-back seat with a detachable headrest that's very similar in size and shape to the firstgen seats (but more modern styling). It doesn't recline though. I think mastercraft also has a similar styled one that does recline though. Nice work nonetheless!

I don't know that I'd call myself a purist, but I don't like the high back seats either. That said, it is a good looking seat and you have a pretty extensive cage, so it's not like that will be the only thing sticking up in your convertible.

Mike,

Something to keep in mind is that with an extensive rollcage, you aren't going to be able to recline your seats anyway... So don't pay for features that you don't need. Same goes for the flip forward function. Usually there's so much cagework blocking easy access into the backseat area that it's easier to climb onto the back by grabbing the bedrail and stepping on the rear tire instead.

Ive never been a fan of highback seats.... A good quality "baja style" seat from Mastercraft or PRP would be my choice.

Thanks for the replies guys. I just don't know why this is so hard for me to decide on a simple seat. I've spent a ton of hours looking at all of the seats. Poly Perf. has a nice page of pretty much all of the seat manufactures.

Even my boy, who has been the biggest criticizer on the seats went for these. Since the first pop up of seats in this thread, I totally see where you guys were coming from that time. I was hopping for a more "stock" looking seat this go around.

The reclining thing and moving forward is pretty big for me. My lower back has seen it's time and just an adjustment 1-1.5" either way can sometimes make or break me. I know that they will not be able to go all the way back, as if I was laying down trying to take a nap, or something. Just a little adjust ability would be great. As far as flipping forward, it really wouldn't be for access. I kinda have a plan in my head, that if I go with a harness bar, some how filling in the front section with Paul's fiberglass sheets. On the front of the harness bar, on each side, I'd like to mount a shotgun, rifle and pistol. That way if you see something, get out, flip the seat and grab the gun. The way the rig sits now, it is just to tall to go for the weapon in the back seat, plus it's kinda of safety thing. On the back side, maybe a speaker???

I have also came to realize that really the only way to get into the back seat is over the console. With the cage side design, there is no more stepping on the tire and flipping in. The bars are prefect if you're in the back and need to get out with a small ninja dive roll though. :D

I did look at at the baja and other seats, as far as how much these would stick out, and they are two inches taller than pretty much all of the baja type seats.

Sorry for the ramble, I just don't want to drop 1k on seats that just won't cut it. I'll be living in a 1st gen from tonight until Monday as hunting season starts this weekend. Maybe I'll come up with something, or at least make a decision on what way to go.

Have a great weekend, and, as always, thanks guys...

Mike,

With a fixed-backed seat, you could still adjust the "rake" with an adjuster on the seatrails (you'd have to build it but it would work). Obviously that will not change the relationship of the seat bottom cushion to the seatback since those would still be locked together... but it would allow you some opportunity to get the seat propped back into a position that was most comfortable.

Personally, if you are trying to be nice to your aging body... I think a suspension seat would be the "ultimate". Have you been able to actually put your butt into any of these seats in someone else truck or at a store somewhere? I'd have a hard time buying a seat without actually sitting in it first.

Mike,

Nope, and that is the part the is really difficult for me also. There just isn't a place that I know of, to were I can test drive any of these with my butt.

Maybe the 4 wheel parts store has some down in Sac that I can go down and try. I'll give them a call next week.

I run 2 different sets depending on what type of driving we are doing. I really like my PRP's. That being said I also like my stocker's (Of which I now call My SUMMER SEATS.)The PRP's have the sides to hold you in and are real real comfy, especially when it the going gets rough, but are kinda rough to sling your arse over every time you get in/out. Also with the stockers you only need lap belts and for just going to the beach or the store is nice. Cop told me that if I had the harnesses in I had to wear them.

Well, I didn't buy any seats yet, but I did pick this up on a screamin' deal... :saweet:

Not really sure, I think it might be before they started labeling them by series. Someone that is more knowledge should chime in on this one. :dunno:

When I was in the business I remember 4 and 6's
