Lol, I'd hate to land off a sweet jump and have my shocks shoot out and land in the grandstands. :doah: :waytogo: :haha:

How is the car coming?

Its a lot less embarrassing when it happens 2 miles from main camp at the hammers LOL

new suspension possible new sponsership with a different brand of shocks, new driveshaft.

Its coming along

stout to say the least Mike, but let me clear up that one statement....1st gen owners HAVE THE COOLEST TRUCKS!

semantics...:tongue1: :haha:

Nice, sounds like things are looking up with some new parts and hopefully a new sponsor. I know that if you get a chance to build it the way that you want, grandstanders should be safe from now on. :pimp:

Still gotta give ya props for a great weekend for the boy and I. Thanks :waytogo:

Be awesome to meet up with you guys a Glen Helen, but my guess, is the wife will shoot us down on that one. :doah:

A lot here, probably didn't know how "Hip" Eric actually is. :eek1: :D

.1 second before destruction..

Making some serious driving sounds...:woot: :p:

Well, it was a pretty crazy weekend. In the end, I did get it back together and fired it up, but what a ride up to that point.

Saturday, I woke up early trying to get the winch mount done early as my son had a bball tourney right here in town. Pushed through, getting the gussets done, the winch cradle welded up, all of the welded nuts tapped again and everything back into place. I even had her back on all fours for the first time, in a long time, before we had to make it to his first game at 2:00.

The kid was playing great. 4th quarter he ended up stealing the ball and going for the fast break layup. Mid-air during the shot some asshat kid crunched him from behind, he went flying until he landed, breaking his wrist.

2am we were home from the hospital. Woke up early again, but was really mentally exhausted, so I crashed for a bit longer. Just not like me to sleep in till 10.. I knew that ekajkrats (Jacob form here) was planning on showing up at the house after a great first gen camping trip with his friend.

Slammed the core, rad, hoses and stuff on, blew out the garage and did a little test fire. I tell ya, it's tough to think about how mad you are when you have a open header BB talking to ya. :woot:

Jacob showed up around 2 with his bud a mechanical engineer. It was great to meet another CK5'er and a 1st gen guy. I will admit, those engineer types sure are funny around this stuff. Overall I was given the thumbs up on the project. :pimp: It would be great to do a little wheelin' with those two when I get mine up and running.

A couple of pics throughout the weekend.

Putting the puzzle all together.

Finally bolted up the hanger

This came up nice..

My bud

The not so good. For those of you on my FB that seen the vid, I'm still really pissed about the whole thing. Thought about putting the vid in here, but I simply can't watch it anymore.

and where I ended up after some, trying to forget about the day prior with a lot of beers, type of day.

The plan is to get the rest of the front clip on and figure out where my bumper is going to land. It still needs to be brought down close to an inch at this point. After I know that it's all going to work out, I'll take it all apart, add the bars that I know I want to the engine cage and weld it up. It should be all up to the Hawse fairlead at that point. Trying to figure out what one will work for the steel cable for the time being. Once I get a little further down the road, I'd like to change out the cable for rope and an aluminum fairlead.

looking good man! Bummer about the kid though. Hopefully he's back in action soon though.

I like that shot with the front bumper in place. Having those D-rings hanging off of it really gives the bumper some beef. I like it!

Mike, it was good to meet you in person and see your beast of a truck. First time I met a CK5'er (who happened to be the one to get me to be a paying member in the first place). To hear you rev that engine, I about crapped my pants....boy does a big block sound freakin' mean! I was all sorts of jealous seeing your truck in person.

And I think in reality my truck will be on the nice, fairly bumpy trail watching yours actually wheel, and I look forward to that day. Keep up the excellent work! And I agree the engineering brain is definitely wired differently than most, can definitely help with a different point of view.

Thanks Ash. I agree, I think the front end should come out pretty beefy lookinig, but in a good way. I was always worried that those recov points where going to look too damn big.

The boy went to practice last night to watch. It will take awhile, but hopefully he is back in action in 6 weeks.

LOl, I forgot that I held the hidden junk yard location from ya until after you signed up. :pimp: See, it was worth every penny though. :thumb:

Gotta love the sound of the BB. Sure am glad that we got to hear it this weekend. It kinda pushes me through the long boring days of grinding or some other mundane task.

The engineers are awesome when it comes to these things. I kinda put that dig in there for Greg. :D Talk about always thinking outside of the box. Can't tell you how many times he has helped me with this build.

Someday my friend, we'll hit some trails together. :woot:

Looks awesome man! Gotta feel good to start it up again too! Can't wait till I can see this thing in person sometime :waytogo:

And as I said on Facebook, hopefully your son heals up quick!

Drive south with us after the get-together..

And thanks Brother...you know that we appreciate it. :waytogo: :bow:

Front end is super beef. :eek1: Are you going to weld the plates on the frame for the engine cage or just use the bolts? What size are they?

Tell little Mike get well soon from me ( then smack him on the back of the head!)

I actually like that front bumper the way it is. Certainly classy looking. I have always wanted to take the 100s of hours it would take to simulate the stock bumper but in thick steel, then chrome it.

I am pretty stylin though!!! Nice pic :D:D

Also you need to arrive in Edmonton if Russell's picking you up.

Lots of time to change things a bit.

You're right, my bad. Looks like I'm 0/2... My tickets are for Edmonton, I just had a brain fart.

I'll see what I can do about the tickets. Either way I'm really looking forward to hanging out with all you guys!

Coming together very nicely!

Looking good!!:waytogo:

Too bad about the young lad!:eek1:

If he is like my boys were at that age, he will heal fast.
Hope he is well soon!

Talk about role-reversals.... You've been playing engineer, and I spent the last 5 days pretending to be a home builder. :D

I've drilled more European-style hinge pockets than I care to count. If I never see another Blum hinge in my life it will still be too soon. :haha:

Oh... good! I was just thinking Russel will be waiting in Edmonton and your in Calgary! :doah::haha:

Can`t wait to meet you guys in September...like Dave said it`s only 4 months away! :woot: We still have some snow on the ground and haven`t even started any feild work September is going to come quick.

I can't wait to meet everyone too! Really looking forward to it. Thanks again for hosting Dean:waytogo::bow::bow:

I do feel fairly retarded now... I'll see if they'll let me change them up.

All good. Just thought it might work out. :waytogo:

Everything on the rig is grade 8, 3/8 or 1/2". Up to this point, there is nothing welded to the frame with hopes that I can finish the entire project with no frame welds. :dunno:

He walked up in the garage last night, while I had my laptop open to this page. I gave him a quick slap to the back of the head and he got kinda mad. I showed him your post and started to laugh. Good stuff. :pimp:

I can't believe that I'm actually getting the thumbs up from you on this. :haha: The whole look should hopefully come out pretty classy. Man, I'd love to actually build one that was not tin foil thin with the same look.

As far as the pic. I agree, it's a great pic of a ....uhmmm...large boned fella. :D

Looking good!!:waytogo:

Thanks brother on both ends. Hopefully he heals quick and gets back in the game soon. He really loves that game. :waytogo:

LOL, I can't believe that you're still at it. Those things have to be close to being installed.

That 3300 is probably looking pretty good right now, huh..:wink1:

I can't wait to meet everyone too! Really looking forward to it. Thanks again for hosting Dean:waytogo::bow::bow:

I'm with ya there, should be a great time.
