Well I will say you have done pretty much as much as you can do:D:D:D

It kind of looks like it might not crumble like a Mt. Dew can under my foot.

That's funny that those are still in use. I was going through your thread last week looking for the pic of the air dryer. I couldn't find a photo of mine and I know if I type in Christmas on yours, it pops up. Wouldn't ya know, there were the garage coupons from 2011. :haha:

Oh, I have some more tube to do. I sure would like Baileys help too. Just don't know if that is before the 14 bolt gear install or after. :flipoff13: :haha:

Didn't get much of a chance to do much yesterday, but sit there moving tubes around and drinking beer. I think that this really might work. Hopefully I'll get some garage time later this week.

Any concern about body flex causing the fenders to rub out there?

They are getting better, but some are still not so pretty.. Those outer bumper extensions were a pain to weld. Very tight space in a lot of the areas. A little spray and pray was used on some of them.

Thanks Ash... You know, there really shouldn't be too much movement with the body as I'm locking it all in to the frame. I did end up cutting the fangs a little bit more on the pass side. The drivers didn't need it as I cut too much from the get go. :doah:

Huh, I just checked again and they are all there. Even checked from my phone and seen them. Don't think I'm getting close to the bandwidth for PB yet.





Man, that was a push forward weekend. It was hot as hell both days. The first day I was out in the garage at 5:30 and Sunday by 7:30 to beat the heat. I think that It was a great push, as I accomplished my goal, by getting the bumper skin to fit over the tube work by Sunday night.

I still have a ton of work to do, but at least it fits and I know that it will work out. Just a bunch of little tubes, gussets and I'm thinking of a couple tube disconnects for easy removal.

Top tube on. Don't mind the little vertical tubes as they were just for mock up.

Happy with my decision to double up this area with a 1.5 DOM interior sleeve over both cut out areas. Still need to weld in the plug piece to close them up, bit the bumper bracket and bolts fit just under these.







Here you can see the curve of the bumper that I had to follow with the tube.

Now besides the little tubes and gussets, I need to figure out how to build a sideways bridge. This will be the third tube running pretty much against the core support from side to side. Tubes will come off of this third tube running strait forward starting the lock in of all.


That's about it. Great weekend with some good progress. :waytogo:

I think you are pretty much done with that dude. Came out about a thousand times better than I thought it would. Major props to you man

But here is the thing I don't think adding any more tubes is really gonna help anything.

Where you bend bumpers is the very corners and the bottom. Sometimes you dent in the face of it. I don't think you can brace it up anymore than you have to protect from any form of dent.

I cut the bottom of my stock bumper off on my 74 and ran on tube on the bottom of it and never had a problem. My truck I think sat higher than yours though and I cut like 4" off the bumpers height

Way way impressed with the amount of work you have put in to keep the stock bumper. I coulda built 4 tube bumpers or 2 plate bumpers in the time that you have into that thing
 
The only thing I don't like about it is from a distance you would never know how awesome that bumper actually is! But we all do!! :bow:
