Looks like you've got this "welding" thing down...
They are getting better, but some are still not so pretty.. Those outer bumper extensions were a pain to weld. Very tight space in a lot of the areas. A little spray and pray was used on some of them.
Nice work as usual!
Thanks Dean.
I dig it! Love the fact your are keeping the factory bumper.
Me too. I really didn't think that it was going to take this much time though.
Good God Man, You plan on moonlighting at the railroad yard pushing freight cars around? Thank goodness you you went to the darkside.
If they would pay me so I could buy more truck parts. I'm all about it.
mean bro, F'ing mean!
Any concern about body flex causing the fenders to rub out there?
Thanks Ash... You know, there really shouldn't be too much movement with the body as I'm locking it all in to the frame. I did end up cutting the fangs a little bit more on the pass side. The drivers didn't need it as I cut too much from the get go.
I can't see pics
Huh, I just checked again and they are all there. Even checked from my phone and seen them. Don't think I'm getting close to the bandwidth for PB yet.
Man, that was a push forward weekend. It was hot as hell both days. The first day I was out in the garage at 5:30 and Sunday by 7:30 to beat the heat. I think that It was a great push, as I accomplished my goal, by getting the bumper skin to fit over the tube work by Sunday night.
I still have a ton of work to do, but at least it fits and I know that it will work out. Just a bunch of little tubes, gussets and I'm thinking of a couple tube disconnects for easy removal.
Here are some more pics from yesterday... My HERO day.
Top tube on. Don't mind the little vertical tubes as they were just for mock up.
Coming around the end.
Happy with my decision to double up this area with a 1.5 DOM interior sleeve over both cut out areas. Still need to weld in the plug piece to close them up, bit the bumper bracket and bolts fit just under these.
Here you can see the curve of the bumper that I had to follow with the tube.
My dog chillin' in front of the cooler.
And the HERO shot. Figures that it would be the one that comes out blurry.
Now besides the little tubes and gussets, I need to figure out how to build a sideways bridge. This will be the third tube running pretty much against the core support from side to side. Tubes will come off of this third tube running strait forward starting the lock in of all.
That's about it. Great weekend with some good progress.
