Not bad for a carpenter. :D

J/k Mike you are on fire with this sh!t!!! :waytogo:

Lol, not bad huh, Dean. I might actually be getting the hang of this metal, tube stuff.

Honestly, those were the same words I said last night to my friend. Very happy with how it came out.

Thanks on the 100k thing too. What is even cooler than that is all the help that I have received in that time, along with some great friends too.

Thanks brotherhood.:bow::waytogo:

Are the reservoirs going forward?

They get pretty hot and it looks like there is not much clearance between the seats and the wheel well tub.

Make sure you cycle everything Mike. Shocks look a little tight to the mounts but it might just be the tape you have on them makes em look closer.

Just a couple things to watch for.

Cool stuff though man Cool stuff

Thanks for the post up. I really didn't think about how hot those reservoirs would get.

I know that I also need to do a little more trimming on the bottom of those gussets and the hole through the bed. There should be ample room when it's all said and done for full movement of the shock.

The present hole in the bed is 2 1/2". I need to make it bigger, at least in one area so the shock will slip out the bottom. Any suggestions on a grommet?

Definitely making some good progress brother!

Pushin' forward Brother, pushin' forward. :pimp:

A little mock up that I did with some tubes last night. Eric and I have talked since his post, but I wanted to make sure that there is enough room. This, or on one of the cross tubes that will go across the back of the seat is where I had thought about installing the resi's. Now after knowing how hot those get, I think across the "X" or "V" that I'm going to make on the back of the seat will be too close and maybe a hazard.

And a question for you stock back seat guys. IIRC these two holes is where the original seat belts where mounted. Can someone confirm that and also how far the back seat is from those holes.

I'd like to know how far forward I actually moved my seat.

Thanks. :waytogo:

Yeah, those holes are seatbelt and back seat bracket spots, along with the ones further outboard on each side (total of 4 bolts across the back).

The seat bracket actually sticks back a couple of inches behind the seat so I'd guess you're within an inch or 2 of where the original seat was. If you need me to be more precise I can get some measurements for you this evening.

Thanks Ash. No need for more measurements. I was more curious than anything to see where the new seat sits. :waytogo:

A little progress this weekend. Unfortunately, the last 10 minutes in the garage last night showed me I have to move backwards.

After welding the hoop things up I moved onto the rear seat mounts. Everything turned out very well, but when I sat the seat in place, it's just too high. I'll need to remake the two bars a little bigger so the seat mount will actually rotate behind it. That should lower everything to where I need it.

Some pics to show the progress, although, it's going to change now.

All welded up

Hitting your head on the cage?

I like some room under that back seat but if its too high its too high.

Oh well its not a very big step back

I had to lower my seat a least a couple inches to have more comfortable headroom. Is that a 6x6 under the seat?

The fabrication looks really nice though!

Yeah, it just sits too high and too close tot he cage. Don't know what changed since the 2x4's under the legs from before. I did block up the bed from sagging since it's not hooked up to the wells yet, but that was only a 1/4" or so. :dunno:

The part that sucks is I'm out of 1.5 now. I needed to get a bit more for the X or V that I'm doing on the back of the seat, but not just yet. Oh well, what's a couple more feet brought to the house. lol

Stupid question, but does 1.25 fit into 1.5 like the 1.5 into 1.75 for a slug? That could make those bars go pretty fast with a couple feet of that too.

Thanks Brian. Yep, that is a 6x6 under the front. Just had it on hand to see how it felt. Actually it was pretty nice.

I figure if I can lower the back end by ~1.5 or so the front should be about ~4". Still enough room to stuff some crap under the seat to get lost forever.

Mike,

The tubes sleeve the way you guessed....usually.

DOM is dimensionally accurate, so they are almost a perfect slip fit. Sometimes I need to give the inner tube a quick kiss on the sander to take off a couple thousandths.

You'll see what I mean

Just got back from Metal Works. Bought another 23' of 1.5 and 10 of 1.25.

At first he didn't think it was going to go, but I felt a small burr on the end. A little scrape with another chunk of scrap and she slides in just nice.

Cool info to know. Thanks for the heads up too.

Final mount of the dash..

And the final shots. This jacked me up so much to see what this will look like again. It's been along time since I had seen this look. Really excited to get my seats this week and push forward on the interior.

Really like how this turned out Mike...nice work!

After seeing everyone's rig painted in Ryoken green it`s hard to imagine them in a different colour. :haha:

Its getting to be pretty common isn't it..:waytogo:

Mike try climbing in and out of the back a few times yourself....in my case the cage/angled floorpan/seats all made for a tricky placement of the feet getting in and out of the rear....I put a flat plate right in front of the floor for a secure placement of one foot while getting back there....Its handy when you have to climb over the seat belt bar between the B pillars.

Thanks Dave. I appreciate the feedback. :waytogo:

Does this get me into the club yet, though? :pimp:

I did a lot of that after you mentioning it. You are correct, something needs to go there. I'm afraid that someone will try to step on the seat sliders and possibly bend them, if that's possible??:dunno:

There is some nice room under each seat that I'd like to make into a step and also into a locking box of some sorts. It sure would be nice to lock handguns or something of value in those two boxes while you head into a store or the bar to grab a burger after coming off the trail.

Here is what I ended up looking at for hours. Once I move back to the front seats, I'll hopefully figure out something by then.

Did a big push this past weekend on the rear seat. I had to remake everything so the seat would sit lower and a little forward. I noticed that when someone sits in the rear bench, their back actually pushes the material out (Back) maybe 3/4". With my thoughts the first go around of keeping the seat very close to the back bars, it would have been pretty uncomfortable for anyone riding back there.

Proof is in the pics. :D

All four corners have the disconnects installed now and a bunch of tube for the harness bar. :thumb:

Here you can see the room that was needed so the passengers wouldn't feel the bars behind them. I had my wife sit in the seat and there is about 1/4" of room still. I did make the rear bar about 1/4" taller than the seat too. After using by buds rig for a lot of trips, we always ended up handing stuff over the seat and out back. No matter how hard you try, whatever it is, always ends up rubbing the top of the seat. Hopefully now, it will just ride over the top bar and never touch the seat.

You can also see that there is a cut in the tube just above the tube gusset. That is where another disco will go so the entire thing will be removable. I'll need to change up the style though, as the interlocking disconnects wouldn't work due to the slope of the tube.

Going to order up two of these today and install them. With the way I'm thinking, they should work out nice.

After sitting last night looking at the tube work, I'll need to add a couple more tubes. :doah:

It reminds me too much of those old "Sunburst" deck handrails that everyone did back in the day. I hate those.

Four more tubes and the back will have two "X's" behind the seat. I think that it will look a lot better.

I think this will look a lot better and save the back of my seat a little more too.

I gotta say that while all that tubing behind the seat looks cool, do you need it? If the shocks require more support I get it, but other than that it seems like the only purpose is to protect the top of the seat back. That's a whole lot of heavy tube just to keep from dragging things across the top of the seat.

Am I missing something?

You know my thoughts on keeping tubing to a minimum so keep that in mind. Don't mean to be a downer, just askin' questions. :)

*edit* side impact support?

Two things.

Harness bar is needed for the the back seat. With how close the head room is, any trail rides I want the back passengers to be belted up.

I will probably go with 2", four point harness systems for back there.

The other is to save the back of the seat. With everything that gets thrown back there on a trip, I don't want the seat to be the back stop for the cooler or what ever.

Besides, it looks cool. :doah: :haha:
