Thanks Rene. I sure do like the work that they did. :waytogo: I just wish that the actual sound would come out on the recording. It just never comes out right. :dunno:

Surgery went well yesterday. Didn't get a wink of sleep last night tho. :doah: let's just hope that three times is the one. It did leave me with a lot of time to check out parts and catch up on dumb movies...

Jess said that the rear should be done next week sometime and the front the following week. Something on the front is on back order or something. I guess it really doesn't matter to much on that though for the time being.

If I do plan on driving this a time or two before she gets blown apart again, I need to work on the brakes and steering. With the brakes, I want to install the hydro unit, but I need to fab or find a pump bracket for that to go in. That is, after I figure out the mounting of the hydro brake pedal rod and unit.

I guess I can come clean on the front end too. Back forever ago I ordered the cross and drag from ORD being I knew I bought a GM 60 off of pirate. After sending pics back forth to Chris, she ended up being a dodge. I guess the only way to know on this year was a measurement from king pin to pin. Turns out it's something like an inch or two shorter.. So I either need to send these back or get them cut down and tapped again.. Who knew? I sure as he'll didn't. :D I also need to find an Xj shaft, buy one or go with a Borgerson.

That would leave a ton of welding, a million loose bolts, radiator mount, gas tank mount, new inline tube tranny and gas lines, e brake mounting with cables and the minimum wiring for some hot laps. My neighbor is a cop, so he said he would race me, try to catch me going around the circle (round block:thumb:) with his lights going, so I guess I won't need any for the test runs. His should be sufficient :pimp:

I know I'm missing some things, but that's the jist of it, I think, for some hot laps.

Awesome Dude!! Hope you heal fast and can get back to it.

  • :haha:Dukes of Hazard style! :thumb::popcorn:

Blazer Sounds awesome! Hurry up and heal... get her done. :woot:

great tube work on the exhaust Mike, they done good! Are the pipes 3"?
And what the heck is that archaic fuel mixer on that sweet BBC anyway?

As far as the traction bar.. I dont know if you could get it in next to the driveshaft now, but keep in mind that for good articulation it needs to allow the axle to move on both planes of movement not just up and down, as in sled pulling or drag racing...Kert's antiwrap bar works great in this application, I've seen others with a compromised setup that limits movement by not having the pivot for the bar to move on.

your making good progress brother!

You should do a Ken Block style video with the Blazer breaking all four loose around the corner with the cop car in a powerslide behind you :pimp:

This thing is seriously sweet though. I am in awe of the fabrication and the time you have put into this. Hopefully one day I can get to that point.

Thanks Dean. It really does sound better in person, tho. :waytogo:

In for the cop chase video...

Me too... Hopefully he doesn't puss out. lol

3 1/2" headers with 2 1/2" all the way back. :pimp:

As you say, the anti wrap might be a bitch now. Hopefully I can figure out something. I still remember the pic when you were welding yours on. I thought you were a god at the time for being able to weld onto your axle...And no, I'm not saying that your still not a god. :D :haha:

Thanks brother.. You will get there. Heck, I ended up somewhere with all the help from you guys. It just takes time..:thumb:

Made a little progress yesterday. My friend, Eric came over to give me a hand. We blasted the hydro unit along with the brake pedal unit. Unfortunately one of my bags got wet, so we ran out of media on the pedal portion. At least I can start to figure out how to do this.

Just for my own reference, I'm stealing Ash's and Seans pics in how they did the rod. If anyone else has done it with pics, post up. I'd like to see how you did the rod, too.

Here is where I'm at now.

Blasting

Original pedal rod

And old unit

Hydro rod

Ash pics

Sean's pics

Just a reminder, I changed my mind on my push rod connector in the end.

This post has the correct pic along with some numbers and the reason I changed it. :)

In the image above if I was doing it over again I wouldn't cut the top of the bracket off. It works fine and I'll probably never have a problem but there isn't as much material around the upper bolts as I'd have liked. at the time I thought it would look cleaner cut down though. If you do decide to cut it down like mine, I'd drill the holes first so that you can cut around them if needed.

Perfect... Thanks Ash...:waytogo:

I had Sean looking his morning too. That was between smack talk tho. :D

Haven't checked in here in a while... Looking great Mike! Sounds great considering the phone vid. Can't wait to hear it in person some time.

I just can't figure out why you want to see mine and Ash's rods:eek1::haha::haha::haha:

Making a little progress, one handed bandit style.. The wrist is doing OK, but these metal clothes hangers that they have sticking out of the skin in two places holding one of my bones has really been the pits. Hopefully on Thursday these little fockers get pulled out and I'm back in action.

In the time being, I've been trying to knock out some small stuff and get the stuff that had to be sourced out, done.

I was working on the hydro boost linkage one night, had it pretty much finished too, when a friend showed up. I guess it wasn't up to par, so it ended up getting tossed in his rig along with my winch handle. He knew a guy.. lol

When they came back all was done with a little tig action. They came out pretty nice.

I needed the handle to be cut off, and a u joint type linkage to be welded to it. This way everything should stay hidden.

I'll need to finish the top half, by cutting down some of the shaft and welding a socket (or something) to the end, but it should work out good, I hope.

Crappy pic..

And the boost

So after looking at the engine cage and the plates that I had on the ends, I realized there was no way this thing was going to ever come apart. Even with all the bolts out, the plates needed to move against each other, so I added a couple disconnect areas.

All tore down again.

and all back together with the disconnects.

She is totally ready for final weld now. I even cut open a glove to go over my cast.

It still didn't work...:doah: I'll need to see what happens on Thursday. Hopefully, this thing will be off and I can start to pretend again, I know how to weld. :D

And a couple pics of Casey's rig that he showed up in yesterday.
