I can't wait to actually have a judge give me my stuff back so I can set up my new garage.

I have a drill a screwdriver, channel locks and a hammer to my name right now... Unless I can fab a new truck from thin air by shooting my pistol into the garage wall imma have to sit out MPS for the next couple months.:haha:

In that case..... I think that you should sit in as one of the judges for the time being. :waytogo:

Wait....did I just say that? Everyone's screwed. :doah:

:haha: :haha:

I think that's a great idea!!!!

Thanks for helping out yesterday. I was a lot of fun. We'll need to get you a shirt or something to make it official. :D

Cool stuff goin to on there. Lot of cool old iron too.

Thanks man, I appreciate it. :waytogo:

So, a little MPS progress. Like normal, on MPS, I didn't get as much done as I wished. But it's tough keeping score, all the bar graphs and pie charts needed to accumulate accurate scoring and all. It takes up a lot of my build time. I must say that it is well worth it though. :p:

I did make a little progress on the hidden tube back bumper. At least I managed to mount the skin and go through a million measurements, making sure it will work for everything else that I have going on.

I ended up just getting it tacked in with some scrap angle iron for the time being. After laying under the truck for awhile, figuring out how I'm going to mount the tubes, I hit a road block. I need everything to start from the very ends of the tube bumper and move my way to the center with the bracing. Unfortunately, that starts with the tire carrier mount which I didn't have time for yesterday. But it is all mocked up and ready for the next time I'm in the shop.

Pics.

What I started with.

I built plates for the sides and was able to mount the rear most holes. That area was only two plates of 1/4" and the frame. I figured the rest of the bolts can happen when I take it apart again. It's 2" worth of steel back there now. Not very fun to drill through in that position.

Mocked up with clamps and spacers.

Here is the area that I need to figure out some. The tubes, I think, are going to come off the tube bumper at a "Y", then shoot back to the frame. The bumper is wide and I only have 3.75 worth of frame width to land it on. I don't want to just run single tubes from the center (up and down) of the bumper. I'd like to split it somehow so I have support at the top and bottom.

And started to make some skin mounting plates.

In the end, it came out looking like this.

Been waiting for this look for about three years. Glad it finally worked out.
:waytogo:

Everything still needs a lot of love still, but I think that it's all going to work out nice.

In the end, after the cards were counted and Super Zim beat out the Canadian team of Russell and Rene it was time for a beer. :thumb:

Hell, I had a guest sitting in the driveway wearing a Tux all day and my wife wanted to hang out. So all three of us had a couple cold ones and enjoyed each others company. All in all, a nice day.

Thanks brother.:waytogo:

Most of you guys have already seen this stuff, but the thread needs the updates.

Loved the vid yesterday. That BB is sounding nice. :woot:

Haha thanks! That vid was done in a rush between odd jobs during the day... and I sounded a bit retarded talking. But the point was to have fun right!?

Can't wait to hear yours and Gregs BBs run!

Steering brace?

EDIT: Dammit! Dean beat me to it. Barely.

Nice job guys. :waytogo: I guess it's starting to look like what it's supposed to be. Bonus... :tongue1: :haha:

It's coming along. Just about done with the fab work on the steering pump bracket, too. Might need some help on that one to make her cool. It looks like a bracket so far. :D

So I get that this thread was in the '69-'72 section for a long time, but I am still not sure how I missed it.

That being said, it takes several hours to read this entire thread from the beginning to this point.

Thanks for taking the time to stop by and read the entire thread. Hopefully it was enjoyable and you didn't think it was a waste of your time to get to this point. :waytogo:

On another note......I blew up my f*ckin welder again last night. So damn pissed.

Welded the end bolt tube to the end of the brace and all was good. A friend stopped by and we had a few neers. After he left, I went over to throw one more bead on. The machine was still running from the first time I was welding.

All I did was hit the trigger and boom, the entire garage went dark. It actually flipped the main in the house, which has never happened before. Went back out to the sweet smell of burnt circuit board. I just dropped everything, shut off the lights and walked back down to the house, pissed.

Hopefully this one will be warranties, as it's only been about 5 months. It was 404.00 to fix her last time.

what burn box do you have again?

sorry I have a short attention span... :doah: :haha:
