And here I though that you didn't think I was good lookin' enough to reply to my junk anymore. :ignore:

Whew. Got me worried. Glad I still got the looks like the day I took my Avatar pic. :pimp:

I think it's going to be a mixed bag of rear tube bumper/ swing away mounting and getting the cage 100% welded. I've been putting off welding the cage forever. I guess if it turns out like crap, I have a grinder. :haha:

ps. shoot me your number again. You're missing out on some good texting smack talk with the other knuckle heads. lol

Damn it. lol Going back for the edit now.

Thanks for pointing out my awesome skills with this engrish language. It's new to me. lol

Been awhile, but I did get a little time in the garage this last weekend. It also ended up being an MPS Sunday, so I was pretty happy that my schedules worked out and I could join in.

I'm still/back to working on the rear bumper. I really thought that I had everything in place the last time I worked on it, but I was wrong. Ever since Greg started playing around with his rear end (:tongue1:) I noticed that he tilted his bumper in at the bottom. I kinda forgot about this as being part of the stock look.

So anyways, I spent the first 6 hours tilting in the bumper and getting everything tacked back in with some angle. All in all, I was able to get the correct angle that I like, two plates finished up and two tubes mocked up. It wasn't my best MPS ever, but it was forward progress.

3 Minutes into MPS, Mark called me out for vid of the garage and a little Jimi playing in the background. It was actually Band of Gypsies. :pimp:

And some pics throughout the day. Mounting the plate. The tubes were in the way. Goal was to get this 100% plumb.

The boy Working on his rig too. :saweet:

Flipping hot all day.

And what I ended up with at the end of the day.

And the winning shot of the day.

Hopefully this next weekend, I can get back out there and finish up the tube work and actually start on the swing gate mounting. :smirk:

I may be biased, but the new bumper angle looks a lot better.

Previously, it looked like it had a really bad overbite, ready to snag a rock and hold on for dear life...... :)

.

I do agree. For me, I guess it's somewhere in between strait up and that pic you sent me. Strait up and down looks the best from the rear, but terrible from the side. Angled in looks weird from the rear, although the lic. plate helps a lot, but way better from the side.

I looked at google images for a couple hours before MPS to look what was out there. For what I'm guessing, 90% being on factory bumper mounting brackets, they were all over. Some smashed into the q panel to just slightly angled.

I pretty much maxed mine out for the tubes to be able to still have a small amount of clearence in between the shackle bump outs. The more it angled, the more it raised up on the tail gate tho. That's really what took so long. Angle it, lower it, angle it lower it... Rinse repeat.

I've been thinking about it quite a bit since you first asked me about the "correct" bumper angle, and I think a lot of the issues are with the lousy reproduction bumper brackets and hangers. Everyone just assumes that they are accurate, and hangs the bumper without even questioning if it "looks" right. My guess is that it's a lot like the front cab support reproductions... instead of stamping a "left" and "right" version (which would need to be mirror images of each other) they simply stamp a generic bumper bracket with NO angle in it at all.... that way they can sell a single part number for either side. Even if it's wrong.

:haha::haha::haha::haha:

I checked my alerts on CK5 on the way back from the job site and I seen Skunked liked some thread that I obviously replied to at some time, but it started with "A '69........ I was all confuddled.:dunno: Then it hit me WTF went on. :what:

To whatever super friendly creature that changed my thread title, Nice Job. I can dig it. :saweet: I can only imagine it was Greg sitting at his desk at work bored. Maybe Rene? He has been threatening to send me some igloo porn as of lately, too?? Well played, whoever did it! (Greg) :waytogo:

Lesson ben learnt.... Don't mess with the mods. :deal: :haha:

Keep at it , looking good

Thanks for participating in the last MPS even though you had family in. You play a good judge and some times I need a little help with these jokers. ps... your pallet of Dr. Pepper was dropped off at that one Hwy exit. :wink1:

Lookin much better Mike!!

Thanks Brother. You know I always like it when you stop by.

Great to see you back working on the blazer again!

It was a blast this last weekend. A lot of fun. I'm pretty sure I'll have time this weekend for the next phase, too. :pimp:

I like it but the angle iron has me stumped. Why not more tube?

The angle was just tacked in as a place holder for the tube. I'm fat and lazy. I didn't want to crawl up and down trying to notch those tubes under the rig. Up on the work bench mo betta for a fat guy. :)

There is going to be a spider web of tube on the pass side to give lateral support for the swing gate spindle. I don't think it will twist as is, but really, what's another couple pounds of tube now? Mooooooooo. :D
