I am in the process of replacing all of my A/C components on my 1985 K5 that had factory air (C60 RPO). I have found all the part required except on the fill lines that do not look like my original line.

Can someone tell me what the "Bulb" is on the right side ?

This is the side that connects into the condenser. As you can see I have the line still attached to the Evaporator to show the relationship.

All the fill lines I have located have the connections and the charge tip. None that I have found have this "bulb".

Thanks !IMG_7119.JPGIMG_7120.JPG

I was gonna say it's a muffler to stop pressure hammer. This is normally seen near the compressor on the high side line. But that shape I have never seen.

@frankin5, I have owned this Blazer since it was new .. I know I have had A/C work done in the past, but I cannot remember every having the fill line changed .. I have found the fill tubes just like LMC shows. ... Thanks for the feedback.

Did you have your system previously converted to R134? I had to do that for my 88. At first I decided not to replace the radiator condenser but eventually changed it due to a leak. That made a big difference in cooling. Mine blows very cold with R134.

@88Silverado First thanks for the identifying photo ... yes that is what it appears to be .. I am going to look tonight to see if the P/N is still on it.

No, it had R-12 in it and in fact the A/C has not worked for the last 15 years as I had it on my deer lease in a barn when not in hunting season.

I am going back with all new components and will naturally be using the R134.

@Wes Harden I agree as I am definitely going all new and will skip the filter as any new fill line would have to cut and flanged ..although not difficult, don't see a need for it.

Yes def. a filter of sorts. mine was plugged up, so instead of making a new line, I cut it apart, cleaned it out and tigged it back together. It is a factory part. I've seen it on a few different years.
