Location
Long Beach / Joshua Tree
Didn't get any pics around the dunes this time,
Or of the lexus almost tumbling down a steep sidehill and winching, but it was a good time.
The area with the red sand and joshua trees was awesome. Got a few cool vids but dont know how to post those...

Who made your front bumper on that Blazer? And, having never wheeled that area, where did you find the airplane?

I've nearly maxed out my desert areas I wheel in Nevada around Bridgeport, CA and Yerington, NV so I may have to start venturing farther south.

That's a clean blazer.... Do you have any pics of the front fender trimming? Did you have to remove part of the inner fender to get it back that far?

Oh, and for the movies either upload them to photobucket if you have an account or better yet make a YouTube account and upload them there.

Airplane is in a "no fly zone":eek1:
-wouldn't really suggest anybody go there as I'm pretty sure it's a mile or two into an area you are not supposed to be in.
But, if you find the sunfair heights area of joshua tree, and go northwest, you can usually find it on google...

Thanks. It's all banged up, getting worse, and getting closer to perfection/destruction everyday.:D

Don't have a lot of pics of the fender trimming.
The 33" bridgestones only rubbed once in two years, and the truck was REALLY twisted up at the time. I thought the 35 inch BFGs wouldn't be much worse...
Wrong! I was loosing rubber the first time out. It rubbed worse than in the pictures, I lost half of a few side lugs when I had to back up.
Had a cordless sawzall to get the lip off for the day, but needed to do it right when I got home.

I took a few measurements, but for the most part, I peeled up the fender trim, and stuck it down further back to mark how I wanted to cut them. I lost something like 3 and a half inches of metal at the bottom where my tire was getting sliced to hell.
I welded in a lip to keep it looking kind of stock, and then torched, pounded, and kicked the inner fender so that it bent right under the top set mounts that are circled. The bottom mount had to be grafted back in. I will take a pic tomorrow in the light that shows what it looks like up close now.

I can stuff my tires like the first pic in the post above, and don't come close to rubbing. I might be able to pull of a 36" tire, probably not a 37 without a bigger lift.
but the 35" is taxing enough on a ten bolt, and I don't plan to go bigger...

How cool. I use to tool all around there as a kid in my godfathers Bronco. Lots off stuff out there. I can't wait to get out there when my truck is finally ready.

Yeah the airplane is not in an area thats TOO bad... but I have seen helicopters and ground vehicles doing live fire in that area.

This was cool but scary. Don't go there. I have only been there once, and probably not go back. Live fire yes. Bombing yes. Artillary yes. parts of various weapons are littered ALL over the place, and the sand could be covering something that would ruin your day:eek1:
