umm if you are serious, NO. If you want to know what one this is, look no further then the upper left hand corner of your screen. Its the UAV, the K5 owned by the ownere of CK5, Steve Fox.

Okay, thanks for clearing up. I get it now - the green one belongs to ORD. Im mixing ORD and CK5.. :doah:

lookin good.

dumb question, why do most people go links in back first? seems like rear suspensions (with long springs) work just fine... it seems like the front could use more flex and a better approach angle more than the rear. I know curing axle-wrap is always a good thing... but it just seems backwards to me to link the rear first. In any case, she's lookin good!

I'll take a stab at that...

1) The front is limited in what you can do with approach angle anyway without MAJOR changes due to stack-up of winch, radiator, fan, engine, and so on. In anything resembling a stock config, you've got room for leafs anyway.
2) Links are often problematic in front due to clearance issues that lead to suboptimal designs.
3) Keeping leafs in the front helps deal with body roll control and torque roll issues.
4) The rear is comparatively easy to link and things that are in the way are easier to move. That means fewer compromises and more bang-for-the-buck.
5) And finally, the BIG one for me, no more bent leafs!

Of Course he will. Have faith my freind.

Links in the rear get put in first because of the reasons stated by baddog and rear links give good control on climbs etc.

She's getin there, tons of details to take care of, but it's gettin there. Also, in addition to what BadDog said, on our Blazers the departure angle is much worse that the approach angle, especialy if your running extra long somewhat flexy springs.

Thanks Brandon for putting me up Sat night. :waytogo:

Mr. Fox, I'm green with jealousy.

What are you running in your front 60? I saw that you have warn slugs now. Did you leave the rest like the last time it was in a tech article or go chromo axles, 5.13's and the works?

Looks like you even planned ahead and gave yourself adjustable rear anti-squat with that bracket design.....NICE.

Are those the TeraFlex rebuildable ends....or QA1/Aurora style jobbies???

So long to Steve's Blazer!
Hello to the UAV behind bars :haha:
Now you can ride out that steep incline without tearing out your quarter-panel :haha: :eek1: :haha:

wow, this really brings a small tear of joy to my eye, i remember when i joined this site, back in the before time, in the long long ago, (september of 99, under my prior screen name shaggyk5) I thought the UAV was the coolest sh*t ever because Steve had just taken a sawzall to his front fenders, and made huge cuts, all in a quest for more clearance.(see pic)
frontfenderafter.jpg

he was so hardcore. After this trim job he started talking seriously about buying a set of 36's. 36's, man!! It couldn't possibly get any cooler than that!

Now seeing the newest iteration of the UAV, i am more excited than ever.

Props to you Steve. Props to you.

Ya, looks awesome Steve. Can't wait to see it at BB. It has been cool to watch the UAV transform over the past few years I have been here. Gives me hope that every year I have my rig, I too can evolve it to a kick as trail rig :wink1:

So now that you have cut up your K5 is the new name of the site going to be called ColoradoTube5.com?? :D

Looks good.

Maybe I should slap some forums up over at one of the sister sites HardCore4x4.com, I have an extra VB forum license.

That'll just be one more forum to give you headaches. We already have a hardcore forum here, "Center Of Gravity" I believe that this could fall under the "extreme body mods" category. :wink1:

us CK5 guys may eventually swap everything out but the frame, but unlike the heep/toyota guys, atleast we swap other same-make parts back in! ;)

btw, continuing the "which end to link first, front or rear"... I seem to remember that Doc Watson linked the front first.... why was that?

It's not as long as it looks, the very rear section is for the fuel cell, the area behind the front seats is for the third seat, King coil/4-link rear.

I have to ask- Wouldnt it have been better to keep that truck in one piece, and just have found a rusted out k5 for like 100 bucks, and just use that frame instead????? WHY WHY WHY kill that beautiful body....
